Draining battery & interior light Problems S70 1998

Hi All!
The wife-mobile (1998 S70 non-turbo) is having some electrical issues with a short somewhere (or something) that is draining the battery when the car is not ran in 3 days. I have already replaced the battery, so it's not that. The only other electrical issue is that the interior lights (by the rear view mirror, will not come on when the doors are opened. They will, however, turn on when you manually flip the switch. The lights in the footwells do turn on whenever the doors are opened though. I'm hoping that the 2 problems are related!
Any thoughts or ideas as to where to begin my quest??

I never thought your wife would buy you so many presents that she would fill up the trunk and trip the light switch!!! :)

You center interior light has a 3 position switch. Center position is for the door activation. You may have to pull the panel off to check the wiring, or the switch may be loose.

On my 850 the draining battery was caused by the glove box light not turning off. The plastic glove box door warped over time enough that the switch no longer turned off when the door was closed. This is a common 850 malady. I don't know if the S70 fixed this design/manufacturing weakness or not.

I fixed mine by gluing a nickel into place as a striker plate for the switch. This fix has been working for about four years now!

Pull down the center arm rest in the back seat and check to make sure the trunk light is not on. Christmas packages may bump the switch!
