S70R struts and shocks S70

Hi all

Just bought a 1998 S70R Auto with just 45,000 miles (72K Km) , Metallic Light red exterior, Grey alcantara interior.
I am a happy man!!!

This car has a factory sport suspension and rides lower than my previous S70 Gl.
The problem is that the previous owner installed a set of "soft MONROE front struts and rear shocks for a more comfortable ride. BIG MISTAKE, the car feels bland and unstable at high speed and front suspension makes a loud clunk as you encounter any road bump.

Having a factory lowered suspension, the shocks should be shorter and have less travel than regular S70 shocks?
Any recomendations in front and rear shocks? Bilstein? what type?
850R share the same suspension with this S70R?

Please help, Thanks

My opinion...go with the HD Bilsteins but replace the springs with stock S70 spring (not lowering springs)...you have inadequate suspension travel the way the car is now set up if you drive on the diversity of roads in this country. A fellow by the name of Dave had a good explanation of this in a link that I can't find now. Maybe someone can find it and send it on to you.

www.shox.com is your source for shocks/struts, mounts and spring seats...if they don't have them on their site, call them. Go with Bilstein Touring (TC)...very even, sure footed and not harsh...cheapest too!

Your clunking could be the swaybar end link. I like IPD's heavy duty ones. They are only a couple of bucks more than their standard's.
