1996 850

My neighbor has a 1996 850. His CEL was on so he brought it to a local Volvo mechanic who said the codes were "an air valve, an air pump, and the relay". All have to be replaced. Does anyone know how difficult this is to replace? I'm pretty skilled on a car. The relay is obvious, but the valve and pump. It sounds like it's no more difficult than anything else on that engine...

The relay is under the cover for the fan shroud. Someone here said there are 2 identical relays and swapping them should determine if one is not working.
The air pump is under the battery tray, a pain to get to and radio codes to worry about, but easy enough to work on. Make sure it isn't filled with water.
Volvospeed has some words about it, it think.

Thank you. I figured it couldn't be that difficult. I imagine the "air valve" is very close by to the pump?
