CEL and OBDII 850

Hi,
New to this forum.I have a '94 850 with the CEL on. I have an OBDII scanner which I purchased for one of my other vehicles. Is the 94 OBDII compatable and if so where is the connection?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Mac

OK. First of all, thanks to everyone who replied and helped. My car has the LED diagnostic system. I managed to turn out the CEL after reading and clearing faults in some of the A block positions. The faults were as follows:

A1 1-1-4
1-2-4
3-1-3

A2 1-1-1 no faults

A3 2-1-1
2-1-3
2-1-4

A6 2-4-1

The CEL is now out BUT the ABS light is now on.

All the codes are 1-1-1 in the A block.

Anyone shead any light on why the ABS light is on and how to fix.

Thanks in advance

Mac

Next to the cigarette lighter is a coin tray. Pull it up and the OBDII connector is shown.

Not necessarily on a '94. Some had it and some didn't...depended on when during the year it was made. Anyway, most likely not an OBD-II, but if present, a first gen. OBD.

On your '94 you won't have OBDII. You have OBD first gen as MIJ says. I have yet to see any vehicle older than '96 that has OBDII. If someone can prove otherwise then they'll make me a big fat liar and I'd like to know what vehicle it was so I can keep that in the 'ol memory bank. You should be able to pull the code as previously mentioned & Bay13 does indeed tell you how.

Actually, a few '95's manufactured at the end of the year had both the test boxes under the hood as well as the OBD-II port under the coin keeper, under the ash tray...someone posted about this recently. LOL...if I ever meet you, you can buy me a beer!

The good news is your car came with a device which will give you the
codes without using the scan tool.

There should be a small black box directly beside your washer
fill cap. You can pull the codes from here.

The volvospeed bay 13 website is an excellent source for directions
on pulling codes for the 1993-1995 Volvo FWD

http://www.volvospeed.com/CheckEngine.php

Once you have pulled the codes, go back to the volvospeed.com
website to find out what the codes mean.

It would be great if all cars came equipeed with something like this.

Good luck.
