What electrical device is attached to the radiator shield? T5 S70 1999

My son's '99 has a broken bottom radiator shield. When he went to remove it he found a wire attached to a 3/4" round device. What is it and where is the clip to detach it as it doesn't pull out?

Sounds like the ambient temp sensor to me, it should click into the lower air guide.

Yes, it's the temperature sensor...the one that registers on the dash in your car...it should "click" out but mine didn't very easity at all...I pulled it out with force and it went back in with force.
