I have a blower that works sometimes and then doesn't, well lets say doesn't blow hard. It will work fine but then it will slowly make a howeling noise and when the fan is on full, it might blow 25% of what it should and then when i put it on rec, it makes a really loud howeling. I haven't matched it to weather if something was freezing. any clues? Thanks

Had a similar problem with my 96 850. To make sure the blower was bad I removed the cabin filter located under the hood and a flap on the passenger side. When the filter is removed you can see the blower cage. I took a long screwdriver and used that to bump the blower cage which started the blower motor turning. The replacement of the blower motor took about 1 hour and was not too bad

maybe you could find someone that is parting out a car and pick up a blower motor and resistor....:)

I also guess blower. If you haven't ordered a cabin fliter kit from FCP, do it when you order the new blower and resistor pack. Usually, when the blower motor goes, so goes the resistor(that box next to the blower that regulates speed).
If you park your car outside all year, get 2 filters. Change it after the leaf season is over next year.

Sounds like the motor bushings are going bad. Haven't had mine out but you usually have to take the motor apart to get to the bottom bushing and alot of new motors are rivited together. Although you can try drilling a small hole in the motor end cap and squirting in some oil. Also by the time they start squeeling the shaft is usually scored. Sorry but it looks like you need a new motor ???

How big of a deal is it to replace the blower? Mine is on its last legs (great time of year for that, huh?) Any other things that should be done while it's all apart? Thanks.

Check the operation of the recirc valve. The actuating arm breaks alot.
