Instrument Cluster lighting plus computer 850 1995

Greetings. I have one light out on the instrument cluster and also the computer has no back lighting. I have gone to Bay 13 and done quite a bit of reading (on this board and other boards) and it looks pretty straight forward to get this done, but there are some mixed opinions on where/what bulbs to use (well, as I read it). It sounds like I just need four bulbs (194) that I can get at any auto parts store for the instrument cluster and I need different ones for the computer. Is this correct? Which ones do I need for the computer? How many of each? I read four, but want to change all while I'm in there. Thoughts, comments, concerns?

If the ones behiind the computer display are like those in used to backlight the radio faceplate, then RadioShack will have them. There very small 12v bulbs with long, non-insulated leads. You'll have to turn and pull the bulb assemble to release them from the circuit board. You then need to unwrap the wire leads from the bulb holder and then remove. Replace with new bulb in reverse order. The literature that comes with the 2-pk of bulbs says they have a life in the order of, due to vague memory, thousands of hours...perhaps less due to the voltage regulation level of 14.5-15v could have something to due with it, defects aside.

As another has mentioned, if this is something want to do just once or best chance at such, replace all the bulbs while you have things apart. I haven't had to remove the panel yet, but an hour sounds good to me.

Goodluck

$30 bucks plus 5 for shipping???????? Whoa nelly! At the bottom of Bay13s pictures, it gives the part number and wattage. Radio shack has them also, just bring one of the computer lights with you.
Removing the cluster is easier when it is hot out, plastic bends better. Just remember to put a cloth over the panel when you start to pull it out of the dash. If you have a turbo boost gauge, unplug that vacuum line first. Figure an hour for doing it the first time. 30 minutes the next time.

IPD sells a kit to do all of them:

And I would recommend you do them all while you're in there. However, if you choose just to do the ones that are burnt out, you might give them a call.
