Bad valves V70-XC70 2005

I have a 2005 xc70, current mileage almost 23K. Check engine light on, due for regular service, take it in and dealer says valves are burnt due to installation of improper valves (diesel) at factory, is this possible, how many cars effected? How does this happen? Why not a recall?

    You're still under warranty. Get it taken care of by the dealer and be happy you don't have to pay for it. It sounds inconceivable, but they are obligated to get your car running like it's suppose to.
