Heater/Blower Fan Not Working 850 1995

The heater fan blower motor is not working on my 95 850 Turbo Wagon. It is equipped with an automatic climate control unit. As soon as the fan control slider switch is moved off of the "zero position", the two indicator lamps above the AC and REC switches blink, signaling a fault. Is this simply a blower motor problem requiring replacement? If not, what common things are there to look for before I succumb to paying my dealer yet another year's worth of greens fees? I have my electrical meter ready.

it's very likely you need the blower, resistor and the pushbuttons. very common. did 3 last summer. go to the faqs and see how to pull the codes. if you have more than 1 or 2 and they refer to the blower, etc., that may be all you need, and then check that part out. do not throw parts at it. but, if you pull 5 or 10 codes and they refer to weird stuff like cabin sensors or other things that make no sense, then the pushbuttons are toast. there are 40 some codes available, my record for pulling is 31.

what happens is the blower gets old and draws more amps. that weakens the resistor, which again, draws more amps-from the controller. when i've encountered many nonsense codes and blower inop, i'd pull the controller and smell it. always has been burnt. good luck, chuck.
