Tune up and 90 K Service V70-XC70 1999

Hello All,

About to order parts for the 90K service on the non-turbo V-70 and just want to check with the board.

Sparkplugs,
Cabin air filter
Change Tranny fluid
Change Brake fluid
Air filter
Lubrication - doors, hood, hinges, etc.

Coolant, hoses, thermo have been done recently. Serpentine Belt changed about 10K ago. Brakes are good, The fuel filter was changed at 60K. The front oxygen sensor was replaced about 4K ago when the OBD 2 spit out its code.

Is there any flame trap or PCV valve for me to clean? Should I clean the throttle body? Never done that on the V-70. Is there anything I missed?
Thanks much for your input.

Looked pretty thorough, but depends on when the items on your list were done last.
You asked:
"Is there any flame trap or PCV valve for me to clean? Should I clean the throttle body?"

I would say yes to both of your questions...since your car is not a turbo, you should have a flame trap under the throttle body, but some '98 and '99's apparently don't have them, so you'll just have to get in there and see. You should clean both of these as well as checking out all of your smaller PVC hoses, especially the elbows for cracks and/or deterioration and replace them if needed.

Good luck!

Mark and David,

Thanks for your help. Looks like I'm good to go so I will likely order parts tomorrow. Maybe someone else will chime in with something we all missed.

BTW, I use synthetic 10-30 and change the oil every 5K. I've noticed the price has started to come down a bit too.

Also BTW, should I replace the little green tranny cooler line connection clip? I didn't change the clip 30K ago when I first changed the tranny fluid and the connection seems fine.

Thanks again guys,

Marty Wolfson

Oil and filter were also mentioned and apparently left off of the first list of things. Not a bad idea to have an extra clip. They do break and if you're careful, could re-use the one you have on there, but you never know. Terrible if you didn't have it and it broke during your flush procedure.

Ummmmm, how about an oil filter, some oil, and a drain plug seal or am I stating the obvious here?

Mark

Oops...you are right....should have an oil change, drain plug seal as in the aluminum washer too. I would also switch to all synthetics at this interval if not already done. Mobil-1 is good...follow manufacturer's oil weight recommendations. Oh, if brake flush and fill was not mentioned, do that too...Then you should be good to go! www.fcpgroton.com is a great place to buy a lot of the typical maintenance parts for your car.
