V70 door panels V70-XC70

Is there a way to fix the vinyl pulling away from the inside of the 1998 v70 door panels? Is there a source for replacement panels?

The delaminating door panels have affected many V70 and S70 owners, and Volvo of NA has been especially stinky and cheesy about covering the cost of replacement parts. It was clearly a poor choice of materials or manufacturing process. Sure, it is not a hazard, but is sub-par for a high-quality car (or one that Volvo's advertisers try to make potential buyers believe is a high-quality car). The least that VolvoNA could do is offer free or inexpensive panels.

Most Volvo dealer parts departments will have some in stock or can get easily. There is a core charge as mentioned so you'll want to return them for a credit. I've done this and have had no problem since. Your vin number will give the exact color when ordering.

My understanding is that this so called "kit" is no longer available.

a4,

A while back there was information that the dealers were accepting the delaminated panels as a core and selling remanufactured panels for about $150.00 each.

This is fairly decent since the cost of a replacement panel is about $400.00 without the credit for the core.

As MIJ suggested you could also opt for a trim shop to re-upholster them in a similar or contrasting material.

The kit was really low rent. It didn't have the foam padding of the original and, if not installed properly, looked like crap. FYI it was virtually impossible to install correctly.

Good luck,
Bryan

There is currently a thread going about this over on swedespeed. It's a common problem and there used to be a kit. Apparently there is no longer one and the recommendation is to take them off, take them to a decent upholser shop and have them covered. Cover them with something that matches well, or if you want some contrast, get creative. I've never seen them on eBay or elsewhere, by the way. No good way to repair them by shooting glue in with a syringe, etc. either. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.
