Buying a 99 V70 Turbo. What should I look for V70-XC70

Hi, I currently own a 95 850 that is getting tired. I am looking at
a 1999 GLT Turbo at a dealer for 9,500 . I am aware of the issues with the
850, rear main seal, trany issues, a/c evaporator. Do these issues pertain
to the 99 V70, and are there other issues to look at. I would of course
insist on seeing full service records, oil and transmision fluid changes etc.
Your help is appreciated.

Burt

Do you know about the ETM issue? Could cost $1000 to replace on that car WHEN it goes bad, not IF. http://VEXEDvolvo.org. (copy the period at the end of the address when you past to your browser). I think you listed the other trouble spots. Just make sure service records are available and make sure you drive it and have a mechanic check it out. ABS is also a weak spot but there's a guy who posts here often (Victor Rocha) who rebuilds them for about $150 rather than the $800 at for replacement at the dealer). The AC on these are a bit more robust than the 850's but still can be problematic...the cabin filter helps. Tranny's are good but RMS is similar to 850's and are usually okay if oil trap is kept clean as well as the small vacuum lines. Guess that's about it.
