'00 S70 Stalling Problem S70

Need everyone's help...

I have a '00 S70 SE non turbo with 105,000 miles (I've had it since 39,000). Last week, I stopped for coffee, got back in, started right back up, then stalled. Started up again, and stalled; it did this 2-3 more times, before failing to start at all for about an hour.

My independent looked at it, and saw no code.

He said that the computer will pick up the code after 2-3 times of same failure, then to bring it back to him to read and fix.

Any ideas?

I appreciate your help.

    '00 S70 Stalling Problem S70

Hello, I have the same problem also on a 1998 S70. Hesitate on red light occasionally. I replaced the rotor, distributor cap & spark plugs no luck. Today I check the coils on the I.A.C valve 10 ohm (suppose to be good between 10 to 14 ohm). I also removed it and cleaned it in case. We will see in a few days if the problem returns.

jmalc, I have been having a similar problem with my 2000 S70 SE without resolution for over a year now. I am still under warranty with the dealer and they have tried on four different occassions to identify this problem. This last time, they kept my car for 5 weeks. Just got it back. I have replaced the antenna ring, immobilizer, battery and had two new sets of keys made. Each time it has come back from the dealer it starts with no problems for a little while, but then the same intermittant no-start begins again. I have also had the situation occur where they could find no codes or they couldn't get it to fail consistantly enough to diagnose. Frustrating. Please stay in touch. I'll keep checking back - maybe we will find a solution. Good luck.

Just got the car back. They replaced the antenna ring, and it's working great.

What is the "Antenna Ring"? What does it have to do with stalling, or running?
        Just curious.

The antenna ring is part of the cars security system. It's communicates with the key that's put in the ignition. When it doesn't recognize the key, it will let the car crank and maybe turn over for 1 to 2 seconds then it shuts off. I think the key's have some small computer chip in them, that's why they have to give you new keys or 'reprogram' them. I'm no tech, but thats my understanding of it.

I have a 2000 S70 (80k)miles and have been through two antenna rings already, the last one I had to pay for. :(

I miss the old day of small keys, these volvo keys are big, I don't even car around the wireless door/trunk opener. It's like carrying around two golf balls in your pocket.

Yeah? At 105K miles I would have suspected the fuel filter.
