drivers seat leather skin removal 850

OK- how hard is to take of the bottom seat skin? Mine is ripping and I want to have it repaired before it is shot. Is it just a matter of cutting the hog clips and pealing it off. Thanks. I want to do it today.

Just curious, but if the vehicle has side impact airbags, do you need to remove the seats a certain way. I have heard that the airbags will deploy if they get to close to the steering wheel.

Just asking before there's a problem.

The newer S70s have a sensor in the door, which, if it gets too close to the seat will cause it to activate. In that case, take the ground wire off the battery. No problem on the 850s.

The 850s with side air bags have a sensor built into the side seat rail. On the driver side it is near the power seat controls. These air bags are mechanically, not electrically actuated, so removing the battery connection is not protective. There is supposed to be a cover for the sensor which is stowed somewhere in the seat assembly and placed on the sensor to protect it during work. On my car I did not find this so I worked carefully. See a Haynes manual on the 850 for details.
