ABS/TRACS 850

I just had Victor Rocha repair the ABS/TRACS module for my 96 Turbo. (Based on recommendations on the BRICKBOARD/VOLVOSPEED.) He certainly provides excellent service, keeping touch with you via e-mail. Turn around was quite quick. For those Volvo folks in Canada (I am in Vancouver), it is especially good to find a source that is reasonably priced and service is good. Return package arrived via Purolator (he sent it U.S. Express Mail), and he marked the Customs label "Used ABS brake control unit. Returned to original owner after testing". As a result, no additional fees. Although I did not require them, his remove and install instructions are very clear. Having the proper TORX tools, as with most Volvo 850 service/repairs, made the job very fast.
I highly recommend Victor, and the service he provides.

Thanks for the advice. I may be sending mine to Victor soon too. I live in Ottawa and my ABS/tracs light has been on for a few months now. I am having trouble finding an E5 torx socket to remove the ABS unit. Where can I get this? (not at Canadian Tire) Also, how did you mail it to Victor (fedex?)?

Try Crosscountry in Toronto they have modules in stock, and they send you module with socket that you need. Tel.1-866-237-3700.

You can find these special sockets at tool stores. I have seen them at KMS Tools, Princeses Auto (they had the cheapest cost for a complete set), if you have LORDCO Auto Parts in your area, they may have it too. If these aren't sources local to you, call a Snap-On or MATCO tool distributor. They will have them too, but at a higher cost. (These other guys buy their stock out of China)
I highly recommend buying a complete set of these sockets, if you plan to keep your Volvo. These type of fastners are used exensively in the Volvo and you will need them if you expect to do most service work. Good luck!
Hope I have been helpful.
I live in Vancouver, and the U.S. border is very close. While on an errand to the U.S., I stopped at a U.S Postoffice and put TRACS/ABS module in the U.S. mail to Victor. Much less expensive than Canadia Post, eh!

"I Second That Emotion"...

I remember a commercial where the father was complaining that his son was listening to too much rock-n-roll...

The kid's answer was "but Dad... it's Smokey".

Cool answer...
