ABS Fix - In praise of Victor 850 1996

As with so many others, I packed up my failed ABS unit and shipped it off to California in hopes that I would not have to suffer the expense of a new ABS unit.

I shipped the unit on a Friday and received an email the following Monday night that the unit had been repaired, tested and would ship out Tuesday morning. The unit arrived on Thursday and Friday morning it was installed and my ABS system was alive again.

During this same time I was able to utilize parts from www.odometergears.com along with the VERY DETAILED instructions on MatthewsVolvoSite and volvospeed to save another HUGE chunk of change in repairing the broken gear in my odometer.

My sincere thanks to Victor and forums like this that help the average poor guy maintain a good vehicle without having to succumb to a mechanic every time something goes wrong.

ABS Fix - In praise of Victor 850 1996

Took mine off and sent it in yesterday. The most difficult part was finding the E5 Torx socket (found one in a kit at National Auto Parts). Anyway, I tied a plastic bag over the large connector. The plungers are still dangling. I have to drive 100 miles a day until the unit comes back. Would you recommend somehow covering the plungers too or are they okay the way they are? Hate that my spedo is not working during my daily interstate communte but it's working out.
