DISC display V70-XC70

Greetings to all:
I have a 1998 XC with 120K miles. Recenty the display in the dash pod has been doing some wied stuff. I have the info set for outside temperature and every now and then the display shows "DISC" instead of the temp. What the heck does this mean? Is it a problem? My wife said she noticed the display go wacky and become a pattern of little black rectangles.
Anyone know the cause or the cure?
Thanks - David

Not to worry. The DISC simply means that the display control switch is not contacting properly or is DISConnected. It is not a functional problem, except for the display.

I heard that a faulty ignition switch is to blame for this. Is there confirmation? Do you have a heavy set of keys on your key ring?
