Buying the 850 850

Howdy fellow brickers,
Well I think I'm going to buy the 96 850 (I thought it said 97, but it's a 96) with the mannual. I got a few questions, first I heard some valves clicking when we first started up the car. I was told it was sitting for about 2 weeks, also the battery was flat. The oil looks kinda of old so do you think that valve clicking will clear up if I change the oil? Or could this be something bad... Second question, how are the CV joints? When I was test drive I was a little ruff on it in second gear (tires broke loose) and I was thinking that even though I won't generally drive the car that hard I know that this will happen a few more times ;-). Anywho, has anyone ever broken CV joint like that? Finally what is that site were you can get the repalcement odo gears? I replaced it in my 240, but I forgot the site name, I think it odogears.com but not sure.
Thanks guys,
Blake

Not changing the oil would certainly lead to noisey valves but putting in new oil wouldn't get rid of the problem. Sort of the barn door and horse situation. Although there have been some reports of noisey 850 valves on startup that others have said is sort of typical for the engines. CV joints will wear out but usually they get noisey when you steer the car. Check the boots for tears and grease leakage. Have only seen one report of axle failure on the 'board and this involved what looked like an axle actually breaking apart suddenly! Very nasty situation.
