Oxygen Sensor Replaced Check Engine light remains on /Bosch Universal Sensor V70-XC70 1999

I just replaced my O2 sensor on my 99 V70. Disconnected the battery for 2 hrs . Took the car out and 10 mins later check engine light re appeared. I read some of the posts and was wondering if there is a specific drive cycle that needs to be completed. Also I used the Bosch after market Universal sensor with the splicing kit. My sensor had a blue 2 black and a white wire. The universal had a white grey and 2 two black wires. I hooked the blue to the black the 2 blacks to white and the grey to white , the color code sheet was hard to decifer. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

I just finished spending a total of $2500 in round numbers on my 98 V70 to update the catalitic converter and O2 sensors. This was because I disconnected the battery to repair my ABS system and the O2 codes never reset. I'm told a typical problem at least with the 98 V70. I started with aftermarket cat and O2 sensor. that didn't work. Changed the Cat to a factory one (very expensive). Also replaced the O2 sensor to a bosch OEM but still no success. finally had to replace both front and rear O2 sensors with factory units and have the code flags fall using a Dyno system. This of course cost me $200 to have it done because I don't personally own one.

Recomendation, Anytime you have systems monitored by your computer, use factory replacement components. May cost more but less headache.

    Good Luck

On my 850, there is a black (the signal wire) two whites (heater wires) and a gray (ground). From your description of the univ. sensor, I'm guessing the two blacks must be heater wires so you must have the signal/ground wires reversed. My guess is gray is ground so white must be the signal wire.

One reason it's worth getting the newer O2senors with the connectors already built on. They plug right up and no splicing. I hope you get it right. Please keep us informed. A friend is in the process of getting the Bosch sensor without the connector (like you did) despite my insistence that she not. Of course the one you splice in is much cheaper.

I just changed the front o2 sensor on my V70 with the exact sensor you used. No problems whatsoever. The check engine light went out as soon as the job was completed.
