Hi,
My '99 V70 TDI has now 170000 km and runs pretty much like new. As Bill mentioned above, it is quite important that you change oil/filters on time as well as the cambelt. In fact, here in Poland where the winters are not so mild and salt is the preferred way to de-ice roads, Volvo recommends changing the cambelt every 90000 km which tends to be expensive. Of course this does not apply to sunny Spain ;-) The other element which you need to inspect every now and then is the elements of suspension which, in my opinion, is a weak point of the car (in terms of built quality it is however much better than 2000+ models - so my mechanic tells me).
So, my guess is that if you replace what needs to be replaced regularily you should run the car well over the 300000 point.
Cheers,
Chris.
