Klaus,

I had the same problem with one of my ’96 850 wagons. I purchased a tail pipe hanger from iPd. I think it cost $20. It was very well made and out lasted the muffler. In fact, when the muffler finally failed, I saved the tail pipe hanger for “future use” because with two ’96 850 wagons and ’99 XC, someday I’m almost guaranteed to use it again.
