Rough running, smell antifreeze?[740-760/1985] posted by LA on

Only once in a while, normally after a hot re-start, B230F runs rough and fast and I (think) I smell antifreeze both in the cabin and at the tailpipe. Throt body is clean, "pcv" system cleaned, air filter, air motor, associated hoses, wiring seem ok. 128,000 miles. Other than bio-degradable underhood wiring and crappy headliner, car has been great. Tx.

hmm...first thing I would check would be the plugs to see if one of them is washed clean or has a green or excessive debris build up on one plug...Is it drinking coolant with no obvious signs of leakage? A pressure check on the cooling system with the plugs out may tell a story too. Some times if you do this with the cooling system drained you can hear pressure bleeding off in a cylinder... good luck! Another thing to watch is excessive vapor on hot days, chances are if it is 75 or 80 degrees outside and you are still seeing vapor coming out your exaust after the car is warmed up there is coolant leaking into your combustion chambers some where
