my wagon was cooling OK at a standstill but not out on the road. compressor was clicking in and out a lot.
traced problem to the compressor clutch. with AC thermo switck on cold and engine runnning, had plenty of voltage (13.5) to the compressor. was sure that the problem was faulty clutch. sprayed inside the clutch windings with brake cleaner and the thing kicked in for a few seconds.
finally traced problem to faulty ground between the compressor/clutch and the engine/negative battery terminal.
works well now, normal cycling, etc. etc.
