stalling[240-260/85] posted by Greg Kimura on

Anyone know about a strange stalling problem on 85 240's. Ours is a 2.3 with all maintenance items repaired, including two new fuel pumps. The car will stall intermittently and will not restart. If we leave it alone for about 30 minutes, she fires up and runs fine. When the car will not start, it feels like there is no fuel or spark, but I have not been able to check either (I cannot get the thing to stall on me). Does anyone have a solution or some secret fix??? Thanks

Greg

Greg,
Don't know if 85's use the open air ceramic fuses, but my 82 was stalling
and my fuses(#13) in particular was coroded and spinning it its holder
would get the car going again,I now clean the fuse block every other
oil change and have fixed wierd troubles in the process. Also I've seen where
the fuel pump relay can cause these troubles..Also check wiring harness and
connections at the various locations , pre 87 Volvos have junk for wire as
I've painfully found out on my 83 Turbo.. Good Luck..
