Clunking 740[ALL/1998] posted by Toni Arte on

I can sometimes hear clunks from the left front wheel, usually when I'm driving very slowly over a bump. Usually it clunks, when the wheel drops to a pothole. What can it be ? The bushings look OK, but I replaced the cone bushings. Worn tie rod end (inner/outer) or ball joint ? Or could it be that the strut insert is loose ?

Somehow I feel that the car is also more sensitive to wind than it used to be. The brakes also pull left, but not very badly.

Did you check your stabilizer bar bushings? Your left side one may be worn out.
