clunking noise, rims and thanks

First off lemmie say that you guys are awesome. I look through the messages and I always see things happening to your cars that are, or are about to happen to mine. Thanks for all the great info.

Lately, theres been a strange noise occuring when I turn sharp left at slow speeds. it sounds like a bad joint or sumthin. There is a hollow knocking noise and it seems to be getting steadily worse. When I turn right however, there is very little noise. If anyone has any info that would be great.

Also, live in Toronto, and a friend of mine happend to back into my front driver side fender, and bent the thing to hell. I need a new one now. Does anyone know of a good scrapper that might have one. I like to get it from somewhere around me.

Also, is anyone interested in sellin some 17" rims????

Thanks
Kevin, 94' 850 sedan.

As for your "strange noise", by any chance, does it sound like a spring unloading, and hitting a stop? I had the identical problem on 850 Turbo many months ago, and it turned out to be a badly failed anti-roll bar link rod. There was enough play so that after turning the steering wheel quite a bit, the load on the anti-roll bar link rod caused it to jam, and then, unload, which would cause that bad joint sound. And yes, it also steadily got worse.

I am also in the Toronto area. If you are interested in some 17" rims, I might have the thing for you. They are Team Dynamics DTM styled rims. Send me an e-mail if interested.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take a look at that. As for the rims, I looked at the Dynamics website and the rims look good. There are 3 colors however. Do you have any pics of yours? As well, is there rubber on them, and how much are you willnig to sell them for? Thanks for the info again.

They are in the alloy silver colour, with black lub bolt covers. I don't have any pics of mine right now, and never intended to, till I got them onto my 850. There is no rubber on them. I'm also in the Toronto area. Send me an e-mail and we'll talk price through e-mail, or on the phone. I don't like talking prices on the Brickboard, 'cause I don't want to be a hipocrit to those that use the board as their personal classifieds, even though Jarrod has EXPLICITY stated not too.

you're probably just hitting the steering stops. when you turn, just back off on the steering wheel from full lock a fraction and the noises should go away. it is recommended that you grease them but it really doesn't do much good.

As far as the knocking noise goes it sounds like a CV joint is going out. When you can hear them it is generally time to have it replaced ASAP. I have never tried to replace one so I can't say what it's like.

I can't speak about the Volvo but on my Civic it was cheaper to have my mechanic do it than it was for me to buy the parts.
