Crank Holding Tool - 240 vs 940 900

The CTA Tools 2242 - Crankshaft Holding Tool - Volvo

http://www.ctatools.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=336

Same as what iPd sells as the MTC version

2242 - Crankshaft Holding Tool - Volvo

https://www.ipdusa.com/products/7988/115647-crankshaft-pulley-holder-tool-b230

Same as FCP Euro, yet FCP states it as a CTA Tool.

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-counterhold-tool-240-740-760-780-940-tools-9995284

I have the 9995284 from OTC or SPX(?) or OPX(?) tools. Heavy dense cast aluminum. Fitted the factory installed harmonic balancer crank pulley fine on the 1991 240. The OEM harmonic balancer crank pulley.

(The http://www.volvotools.com calls it the COUNTERHOLD VIBRATION DAMPENER B200.) Volvo Tools is now the only OEM outlet. Another copyright IP grab by Geely Volvo?

So, this OTC tools 9995824 did not fit the replacement OEM pulley. The counterhold 'teeth' would not fit into the new pulley 'slots'.

The CTA Tool 'teeth' would appear to fit factory installed gotta replace it now harmonic oscillator vibration dampener (damper?) pulley both old and new.

Images of CTA Tool.

Like the tool I have here in front of me, yet polished alum.

Here is what I have:

Image is on this thread in an Italy Volvo forum. (I can barely read Italian, much less Latin and Spanish anymore. D'oh.)

http://www.volvoclub.it/forum/index.php?topic=52774.0

So, what you have should work.

I had to push into the counterhold I have so there would be enough grab to counterhold during removal and torque of the crank pulley bolt.

Wish I had you CTA Tools 2242!

Thanks,

Bub.
