Good idea. I used passenger seat foam when I rebuilt my 240's driver seat years ago. You can further reinforce it by placing cut pieces of denim or some other reinforcement under the foam. Also, make sure you place all the support springs exactly where they belong.

BTW - You can also use the passenger seat upholstery too if you don't mind cutting a few holes in the upholstery to accommodate the driver's seat controls.

Do a search for Tony Hoffman's 240 seat rebuilding instructions. Very helpful! Think you can find a link to it in Art Benstein's Flame trap site.

Finally, if you can find them, I believe Volvo 940 or 740 seats will slip right in and are more comfortable than 240 seats. 850, V70 and some other newer Volvo models will fit too with new brackets.
