[RWD] [120-130] 740 seat belts in a 122? -posted by- Alan122

Shannon,
I do have the threaded hole on the hump, but that is for the receiver or "latch". Do the reel and the end of the belt opposite the reel both get bolted to the lower hole in the B pillar and the hanger in the top hole?

Thanks for getting back to me. I feel like I am missing something obvious.

[RWD] [120-130] 740 seat belts in a 122? -posted by- Alan122

Hi Folks,
I want to install retractable seat belts in the front of my '67 122 wagon. I have read all the posts I can find on the subject and, based on them, I got some rear belts from a 740 sedan. Now I am trying to figure out the best way to install them in the 122. There are three parts of the belt assembly to attach to 122: the reel, the "hanger" and the end of the belt opposite the reel. There are two attachment points on the 122 from the original belt. I don't see a logical way to install the three parts of the 740 belt onto two points on the 122.
Any help will be appreciated.

[AWD] [V70] [2000] Engine slighty rough at constant speed -posted by- Alan122

Last spring, my non-turbo 2000 V70 started running strangely at times. At constant speed, most noticeable at 65 mph, it seems to lose power for a fraction of a second. This condition then repeats itself and the car feels like it is surging or skipping. It is very subtle, but once I recognized the condition, I feel it now at lower speeds. My wife can sense it from the passenger seat. The car runs perfectly the rest of the time, it accelerates fine. There are no codes or lights. There is no change in RPM or speed when this is happening and it doesn't do it all the time. It comes and goes. Maintenance is up to date, throttle body was cleaned and air filter replaced.
It is an annoyance I would like to correct. Any ideas will be appreciated.

[RWD] [700] rear hatch lock inop -posted by- Alan122

The rear hatch on my '89 760 wagon will not unlock with the electric locks. I have been through the procedures in the FAQs, taking off the panel and lubeing everything and it works for awhile. Lately, "for awhile" is less and less time.

The key has never worked in the lock since I bought the car 4 years ago. As long as the electric lock works it is no problem. If I can get the key to work in the lock, I can just unlock it manually. Is there something I can soak the lock mechanism in to free it up, then lubricate it?

Otherwise, I need to try to locate a key and lock assembly that works.

All help is greatly appreciated.

[RWD] [700] 89 760T ECC Ambient Temp sensor -posted by- Alan122

Yesteday my AC button light started blinking and, following the procedure in the 700/900 FAQs, I extracted the fault code for the Ambient Temperature Sensor on the blower housing. I cannot identify the sensor. I have a Haynes manual that shows a diagram for the location of the sensor on "later" models (mine is a 1989) and it looks nothing like what I am seeing. I removed the glove compartment and lower plastic shroud under the glove compartment and took a good look around, but nothing looks like what the manual shows.
If someone can help me locate the sensor I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks,

[RWD] [700] seat interchangeability -posted by- Alan122

The leather seats in my '89 760 wagon are somewhat cracked. A local junk yard has a '91 740 wagon with excellent leather seats. I am interested in installing the front and rear seats from the 91 in my 89. The rear should be easy. What about the fronts with the seat heaters? I didn't notice if the '91 had power seats as does my '89. Maybe I can change just the cushions. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

[RWD] [120-130] [1964] need vacuum source -posted by- Alan122

I have installed a B20F engine with SUs on an early, aluminum intake manifold, in my '67 122 wagon. This intake manifold has no connection for vacuum which I need for the crankcase ventilation. Can I drill and tap a hole in the manifold? Has anyone else dealt with this problem?
All assistance is appreciated.

[RWD] [700] [1989] 760 low beams and bulb failure relay -posted by- Alan122

I'm not sure, but the FAQs suggest the relay is the most likely culprit. The lights are working now, so I can't troubleshoot. We use the car daily and I was trying to prevent the problem in the future. I don't like driving around wondering when the lights are not going to work. Maybe I will just have to wait until they stop working again.

[RWD] [700] [1986] 760 low beams and bulb failure relay -posted by- Alan122

A couple of weeks ago, the low beams on my '89 760 failed to come on after having been on high beam. The high beams worked. As I clicked up and down, the low beams worked again and have been OK since. I would like to deal with this before it happens again, so I read the FAQs and concluded I may need a bulb failure relay. Also reading from the FAQs, it sounds like this relay is permanently attached to the relay bord. If that is true, how do I replace the relay?
Thanks for any advice.

[RWD] [120-130] B20 into '67 122, generator bracket -posted by- Alan122

I have assembled a B20 to install in my 122 wagon. I eventually will convert to an alternator, but in the interest of getting it running with minimal expenditure now, I installed the generator on the B20 block. My problem is the bracket that attaches to the top of the generator does not line up with the generator because the B20 head is slightly different from the B18 head where the bracket attaches. The bracket is too far forward. I can come up with something that will work, but I wondered if someone else has been through this same problem and has a solution that works.
Any advice is appreciated.

[RWD] [700] 89 760 mysterious rain water leak -posted by- Alan122

The driver's side carpet on my 89 760 wagon gets wet when it rains. I have checked the FAQs on this subject and have eliminated all of them. The kick panel and panel under the dash are off until I fix this. Nothing showing at the vent cover left of the drivers feet, nothing at the wiring through the door. I have run a garden hoses into the air vents behind the hood. I feel nothing running down the inside of the firewall. I spread newspaper out under the dash hoping to see evidence of drops of water. Nothing. But the leak is certainly there. And it leaks while sitting parked in the driveway. My next step is to remove the carpet completely and sit in the car in a rainstorm. This is very frustrating. If anyone has found other ways that water gets into these cars, I would really appreciate some help.

Thank You

[RWD] [700] power antenna problem -posted by- Alan122

For the second time, I drove my '89 760 wagon into the garage without lowering the antenna. Mast replacement the first time was easy, just as described in the FAQs. This time I find that the antenna motor is not working when the radio is turned on and off. The fuse is good. It worked fine before I bent the antenna mast. The wiring diagram in my Haynes Manual isn't the greatest, but before I head off with my meter and start trying to figure out the wiring, is there common problem here or can someone suggest where I should start to troubleshoot this? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You

[RWD] [700] More water leak questions -posted by- Alan122

After the 4 inches of rain that southern Maine got last week, I found that a fair amount of water ended up on the drivers side floor of my 89 760 wagon. I have read the FAQs regarding leaks. With FAQs and my Haynes manual in hand, I crawled into the car. I found the front footwell cover, but don't see how to remove it. Or, do I even need to remove it? There is mention of a rubber gasket on a plug. Where is that? Then there is mention of cap for the fresh air intake. I couldn't identify that either.

Bottom line, there is alot of good info here, but I am not familiar enough with the car to figure out how to troubleshoot and correct the source of the leak from all the scenarios listed. Any help would be appreciated. It is raining again and the car is not garaged.

Thank you,

[RWD] [700] [1989] ipd Sport Exhaust System -posted by- Alan122

Has anyone installed the TME Sport Exhaust system which ipd sells on a 700 wagon? I am wondering how much louder it is than the stock system and if you are happy with it. I realize loud is subjective, but I would appreciate any thoughts. I would think a wagon would be louder inside the car than a sedan. It is my wife's car so much louder would not be good, I'd go with a stock system.
Thanks

[RWD] [700] 760 Climate Control, Possible vacumn problem -posted by- Alan122

This summer I have noticed that the climate control fan in my '89 760 Turbo has developed a mind of its own. When the AC is set in automatic mode, it blows cold, but the fan goes off and on. It also happens when the AC is off and I turn the fan speed switch to select a speed. This week I realized that the fan goes off when the car accelerates and comes back on when I let up on the gas. Does this seem like a vacumn problem? Can someone suggest where I should start looking and what I am looking for? My Haynes manual talks about tearing the console out to get at the vacumn motors. Seems like I should start at the vacumn supply at the engine. Since I have never been into this system, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Alan

[RWD] [140-160] B20 Alternators -posted by- Alan122

Hi Jeremy,
I looked on Expressautoparts.com and they list the same part number for an alternator for '71, '72 and '74 B20s. Those were the only years I looked up. So, it should work on your 1971.

If you still want to get rid of it, I think it will work for me and will be easier than adapting a 240 unit. I would be willing to spring for a six pack of good beer and shipping. Are you in AR? I am in Maine. If this is something you want to do, please cantact me at cakelly122@aol.com.
Thanks, Alan

[RWD] [140-160] B20 Alternators -posted by- Alan122

I am installing a 1972 B20 in my 1967 122 wagon. The 122 has a generator. The B20 did not come with any alternator from the junkyard. I am looking for an alternator/regulator combination to install in the 122. On the internet, I have found a SEV Alternator "55 amp for cars with A/C". I also found a regulator for the SEV alternator. I can't tell if it is an exernal regulator or internal to the alternator.
Does anyone know if the SEV alternator has an internal regulator? Is there a Volvo alternator with an internal regulator that will fit the B20?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
