[AWD] [850] [1997] power stage (blower resistor). -posted by- RTBimmer

I have Climate Control so I got the new resistor and see this huge Heat sink that looks like it must go into the Vent system. The symtems are the Fan does not shut off even without the key in the ignition.....

Looks like I can barely get the two connectors of not along get this 3" thick module out of this space... I have the bottom kick plate off and glove box removed...
Frome the new one it looks like only one screw holds it in place.. I'm going in I'll be back in a bit with my update....

Sure looks tight or nearly impossible to remove and replace.... Does the AirBag need to be removed? Is there a way to connect the wires up to verify that it is in fact the Blower resinsor thats bad?

Could the Climate Controller be responsible for the Vent selector not changing the direction of the air flow?

Ooops. I wish I would of checked back on my own Post!! Well I may have a Dual Climate Control for sale that I just purchased on ebay!!!

I guess I'll order the Resistor now from fcp now but what is "Climate Control" and how do I know if I have it?

One of the reason I was thinking that it was the Control unit was that the Vent Selector (Defrost, Dash, floor, etc) does not change the direction of the air flow... No matter what postion is selected, it just kinda comes out where it wants to... Well with the exception of defrost.. I believe when it's on defrost it appears to be "mostly" coming out the defrost...

[AWD] [850] [1997] Blower Motor -posted by- RTBimmer

Well been living without the Blower unit, but with the morning dew in the NE, it's time to start looking at this again.

If it was a short somewhere wouldn'the short then be on the negative side? I just pulled the Plug and put the #5 Fuse back in and I have a positive voltage. The connector was marked + /- where the Blue wire was +.

Also if it was short somewhere wouldn't the fan switch still vary the Blower Speed? Right now with or without the key on the fan speed is steady at low speed and with the ignition key on and then vary the fan switch and the fan does not change..

I'm guess then the only way for the Fan to see power is that something in the Climate Control unit has failed... Does the Climate Control see power around the ignitiom switch?

Took the glove box out... Wiggled all the wires around and all seems fine. To the left of power connector there is a relay.. What is that for? I pulled it and fan Blower did not stop...

Tried pulling the Temp Controller to look at what's inside, but can't seem to pull it out enough to get the connectors unplug... Is their a way to pull the cable out further?

One other clue: I have no Fan Speed control what so ever. Wether it's on O, intermidite. or any where in between it just kind of "hums" along with zero change....

Lent my daughter the car, she said she had trouble closing the trunk... The car pulls in the driveway and the left side of the trunk is sticking out about an inch and half.... It turns out my wrestler future son-in-law was using all he had to attempt to close the trunk, all awhile a plasttic waste basket was obstucting the hinge from closing the lid!!!!

How in the world do I figure out the original shape / form the hinge is suppose to be in?

[AWD] [XC] [2002] Turbo Coolant Line -posted by- RTBimmer

My '02 Lower Turbo Coolant Line what appears to be item # 18 on the Volvo Parts Screen is leaking. On my Line there is a Bango Bolt & 2 Copper Washers at each end of the line. Where mine is leaking is where the line seems to be joined or pressed together in about the middle of the line. Again Volvo shows the Line (#18)as one piece and my line is two pieces and I suspect an O-Ring at the join, which is where it is leaking. Knowone knows what O-Ring I need.... Should I just go ahead and replace the whole line with the one piece line?

My previous post http://www.brickboard.com/AWD/volvo/1321646/S70/check_engine_code.html
on the P0014 code we determined my belt was off a tooth... It appeared to be off a tooth and it was Overdue for a change anyway.... Confirmed the replacement was perfectly lined up and low and behold like clock work three weeks later the Check Engine (P0014) comes back.... A local Volvo Tech has pointed me to the Exhaust Cam Adjust Solinoid..... Has anyone else seen similar problem?
