[RWD] [120-130] Has anyone put power steering on a 122 -posted by- Volvo4dv8

This is for my wife who wants to drive the 122 once in a while.
It has wide tires which I don't want to change.
I did see a 1800ES that had PS. Looked stock.
I thought of converting to rack an pinion or just finding a PS from maybe a 164.
Any ideas?

[RWD] [120-130] Best looking volvo 122s restore -posted by- Volvo4dv8

NO A/C
No dash pad
The bumpers aren't straight.
Nice interior.
Flat black covers up a lot.
Over-spray on the gauges.

Why spend all the time and money and not have a dash pad?
That looks undone.

Otherwise it's pretty cool!

[V8] Ford GT40P heads. -posted by- Volvo4dv8

cool, good to know the headers will work.
I was browsing the mustang list and they mentioned the cam and valve springs should be swapped for the Mustang ones.
Also the spark plugs are relocated, did that cause any issues with your 940?
Thanks

[V8] Ford GT40P heads. -posted by- Volvo4dv8

I'm looking at an explorer engine on EBAY to replace my aging '90 5.0 in my 265.
From the info I can find on the web the exhaust headers seem to be different.
Does anyone know if my present block huger headers will bolt to the GT40P heads?
In other words is the gt40p head that different?
The V8 forum is kinda quiet now days. Must be the economy.

This is my 69 121.
It was a bit of work but worth if.
I made cardboard cutouts of the gauges and shoved them around until I could get them to fit. not seen is the fuel and voltmeter behind the steering wheel.

[RWD] [120-130] m46 First gear problem -posted by- Volvo4dv8

Sometime after 1980 the M46 got a shorter first gear.
That's when they went to the 3.73 rear end on most cars instead of the 3.91.
I had a 1980DL that I swapped in a M46 for a M45 and noticed quite a bit of difference in the first gear. So I guess an earlier M46 would be more desirable except for being used longer and having more wear. I wonder if you could swap out the first gear$$$$.

[RWD] [120-130] Big bore B20 (2.2 liter) emissions help -posted by- Volvo4dv8

My neighbor had a VW that wouldn't pass and I offhandedly suggested that he put a catalytic converter on. We he did it and it passed. He said the smog guy said "that's a strange looking muffler". He didn't know if the guy was serious or not.
But the VW passed easily. If your desperate you could try this and remove it after the test like my neighbor.

I have a 69 121.
It has the dual brake setup, a clutch cable instead of hydraulic, a power brake booster directly connected, ignition key on the column and a 4 speed.
i put a overdrive tranny in so there is room.
The 69 is from outside the states since they were not imported that year.

[AWD] [XC90] H2 -posted by- Volvo4dv8

I was looking at carreview.com for something else and ran accross this about the Hummer H2. This is taken from a review of the H2. I don't own either vehicle at this point. Would never own a Hummer.
Gary

"A quote from Motor Trend Magazine: "The H2 is big, weighty, expensive, and thirsty. (And it needed a shift into low range to finish a hill climb the Volvo's high-tech AWD scrambled up without drama.)" Imagine off-roading in your H2 and getting passed going up a hill by someone in a Volvo X90. How embarrassing!"

[RWD] [200] Help? needed to install an 'AMMETER' -posted by- Volvo4dv8

This would be tough without some major re-wireing in the engine compartment.
The alternator wire runs to the large cable from the positive battery terminal. the connection to this cable is on the starter as I recall.
All the accesories are connected to the positive battery cable through a smaller wire comming out of the positive battery terminal clamp.
Somehow you need one terminal of the ammeter to the battery and the other terminal of the meter to the accessories and alternator. These two connect at differnet points under the hood.
I would just get a voltmeter, much more simple.
It will tell you the info you need and has much less chance of smoke and fire.
