[AWD] [850] 1997 855 T5 Turbocharger oil leak -posted by- ecmiller

Having been under the car, I can say for sure that it is not the oil return line. Both ends of it are dry. I guess I'll have to have somebody look at it.

[AWD] [850] 1997 855 T5 Turbocharger oil leak -posted by- ecmiller

I just got back from a drive from NJ to WA and I have now noticed that there is oil on the turbo (coming from the left of the turbo). Also, I get the feeling that oil is being blown through the downtube to the intercooler, and I am getting a bit of oil collecting in the bottom of the air deflector tray. The car has about 103K miles.
Questions:
1) What is the cause of this? Is this normal for a car of this age?
2) Should this be fixed immediately (will a few hundred miles be bad)?
3) How much should this cost?
4) Do you know of good Volvo shops in Seattle area?

Thanks

[AWD] [850] Electronic Climate control faults on 1997 855 T5 -posted by- ecmiller

We had really hot weather here yesterday and I ran the AC all day.
This morning the REC and AC lights started blinking on my ECC unit When I started the car. It did it twice (each time I started the car) and then not the third time. I know that the manual says that I should take it in for service, but I was wondering if there is anything I can check myself.
Thanks

[AWD] [850] [1995] Should I replace rear springs when replacing shocks? (850Wagon) -posted by- ecmiller

I am already planning on replacing the rear shocks. Last summer I had to replace the rear shock mounts because they were both completely shot and poking against the bottom of the wagon interior floor, so I know how to do everything on the rear. I think it was because I had it overloaded w/o the overload springs when I drove from Seattle to New Jersey. I am now looking at making the same trip next month and don't want the same problem.

I purchased the IPD overload springs and Bilstein heavy duty shocks for the rear, and Bilstein heavy duty struts for the front as well. I'll do the rears myself, but I am not sure if I'll do the front or take it someplace.

[AWD] [850] Should I replace rear springs when replacing shocks? (850Wagon) -posted by- ecmiller

I am going to replace front and rear shock absorbers (with Bilstein heavy duty), but should I also replace the rear coil springs? Does anybody know if heavy duty coil springs are made for the car? (All I can find are springs for lower the car)
