Just when you thought American politics couldn&#x27;t sink any lower. I have lost all faith in America &#x26; will no longer travel there is this woman ans her ticket are voted into office.

At least Joe Biden should have a field day with her at the debates, as it doesn&#x27;t look like anyones&#x27; going to get the chance to talk to her unitl then.

<title>[OPINIONS] Inappropriate Taser Incident ??? -posted by- C.Wagner</title>
<description>Just like the Vancouver incident this is an example of a police officer not doing his job. In the Vancouver case, the cops were too lazy to follow their training, preferring to take the path of least resistence (IE why spend the time to try &#x26; calm the guy down when we can just zap him &#x26; that&#x27;ll be that)

In this instance the cop is on a power trip, totally oblivious to the law and basically just an asshole. People like this shouldn&#x27;t be policemen. I hope the man ges through with his lawsuit.... that thug cop will be working security at a liquor store by the end of the year.

<description>Exactly. My 242 is named Christine for two reasons: I bought it off the original owner... a German lady named Christine, and 2) because the odometer works sporatically, and occasionally ticks back a K, much like the Plymouth Fury in Stephen Kings&#x27; horror classic.

<title>[OPINIONS] Green vehicle of the year...Tahoe? Travesty -posted by- C.Wagner</title>
<description>My company supplied work vehicle is a 2007 GMC 3/4 ton HD with the 6L. I can literally watch as the gas gauge goes down, even on highway trips. When I pull a trailer (with about 4000 lbs cargo) the fuel mileage goes from dissapointing to dismal. I shudder to think that a hybrid version of this vehicle (drivetrain) qualifies for some sort of &#x22;green&#x22; award.

The truck itself is a piece of crap. I would never buy one.

<title>[OPINIONS] Very disturbing -posted by- C.Wagner</title>
<description>&#x3C;I&#x3E;The latest &#x22;spin&#x22; from the RCMP &#x26; so called &#x22;experts&#x22; is that this fellow died not from being tasered but extreme delerium &#x26; likely would have died anyway, taser or no taser. &#x3C;/I&#x3E;

Unbelieveable. I can smell the bullshit almost 1200 kilometres away.

&#x3C;I&#x3E;I suspect they are making it up as they go along.
My view is that it was a criminal act under the guise of law enforcement.&#x3C;/I&#x3E;

It does indeed appear that they are making it up as they go. At least the Vancouver Airport Authoirty is now saying that something went terribly wrong. The RCMP is sticking to their original story, even in light of the overwhelming evidence of police brutality and misconduct. Disgusting.

<title>[OPINIONS] Police = busted! -posted by- C.Wagner</title>
<description>The man at Vancouver International Airport had already been on a plane &#x26; through security so the cops knew he didn&#x27;t have a weapon, there was no one else in the holding area and the man had a stapler in his hand. He was yelling in Polish: &#x22;I&#x27;ll sue you, I&#x27;ll sue you all&#x22; as he was tased. He was yelling &#x22;Police! Police!&#x22; As if he didn&#x27;t even know who the RCMP were, and was calling for police assistance. A blogger from poland on the CBC website indicated that the man was agitated becuase he hadn&#x27;t eaten or drank anything for 15 hours and hadn&#x27;t had a cigarette in that time either.

We&#x27;ve now learned that the guy smashed his own laptop in frustration... So that&#x27;s what happens when you snap in frustration and smash your own computer: the police kill you.

The worst part now is watching the RCMP and airport authority lie and sqirm as they realise that they&#x27;re in very deep trouble. This looks GREAT as Vancouver welcomes the world to the 2010 Winter Olympics.

<title>[OPINIONS] Police = busted! -posted by- C.Wagner</title>
<description>Well the tape of the Vancouver International Airport tasing incident has been released to the public amidst howls of protest from RCMP. The tape clearly shows what actually happened, and also refutes all of the polices&#x27; claims, which now are really nothing more than lies that the RCMP were trying to cover up. The police tased the man 24 seconds after they arrived on scene, and the only iminent casualty of the mans&#x27; agitated behavior was a computer keyboard. The police lied about the number of officers on scene, lied about the timeframe, and lied about the mans&#x27; condition when they approached him. The police did use the tasers in a dangerous and irresponsible manner, and dogpiled the man afterwards, which they should have known can cause a person to die.

Lack of training + Inexpereinced police officers + deadly weapon = an innocent man died.

All police departments had better seriously review their taser policies.

<title>[OPINIONS] It&#x27;s going to be a wild ride -posted by- C.Wagner</title>
<description>There appears to be some massive shifting in north american economies.

Mainstream US media seems reluctant to talk about the US dollar, but it appears that the downwards spiral will continue as now China is unloading its&#x27; large collection of US dollars in favor of stronger currency, and it doesn&#x27;t look like the .25% drop in interest rates is going to do anything to put the brakes on the upcoming recession. Sub-prime mortage fallout and high energy prices are going to continue to drag your economy down.

North of the 49, our dollar is a runaway train, trading at 90 cents US today. Oil is at $98.00 a barrel, which is very nice for a net exporting country. Our manufacturing sector is taking a beating as the ever weakening greenback makes exports to the US less viable.

What&#x27;s happening out there ?

<title>[OPINIONS] Two more questionable incidents -posted by- C.Wagner</title>
<description>&#x3C;I&#x3E;Chicago Police Tasered 82-Year-Old Woman

Nov 6 03:21 PM US/Eastern

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago&#x27;s Police Department is investigating an officer&#x27;s use of a Taser last month on an 82-year-old woman who was swinging a hammer when police arrived.
Officials with the city&#x27;s Department on Aging went to Lillian Fletcher&#x27;s home Oct. 29 to make a welfare check, and called police when they saw Fletcher in a window swinging a hammer back and forth, police spokeswoman Monique Bond said Tuesday.

Officers arrived and in an attempt to subdue Fletcher one of them used their Taser, Bond said. The department is trying to determine if the officer violated department policy regarding the use of stun guns.

Fletcher&#x27;s granddaughter, Traci Taylor, told the Chicago Sun-Times that her grandmother suffers from schizophrenia and dementia. &#x3C;/I&#x3E;

AND

&#x3C;I&#x3E;Wheelchair-Bound Woman Dies After Being Shocked With Taser 10 Times

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- A Clay County woman&#x27;s family said it&#x27;s seeking justice after their loved one died shortly after being shocked 10 times with Taser guns during a confrontation with police.

The family of 56-year-old Emily Delafield said it would take the Green Cove Springs Police Department to court, according to a WJXT-TV report.

In April 2006, officers with the police department said they were called to a disturbance at a home in the 400 block of Harrison Street just before 5 p.m.

In a 911 call made to the Green Cove Springs, Delafield can be heard telling a dispatcher that she believed she was in danger &#x3C;/I&#x3E;

I&#x27;m less &#x26; less certain that the police have any idea how to properly conduct themselves in these situations

<title>[OPINIONS] Gotta` wonder about the RCMP these days!!! -posted by- C.Wagner</title>
<description>From the Globe &#x26; mail... it&#x27;s a couple days old now:

&#x3C;I&#x3E;VANCOUVER &#x26;#226;&#x26;#128;&#x26;#148; Dazed and confused after more than 15 hours of travel, unable to communicate in English and scared because he couldn&#x27;t find his mother, Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski was jolted by a taser just 24 seconds after being confronted by police in Vancouver International Airport.

That allegation was made Thursday by a lawyer for Mr. Dziekanski&#x27;s family who says video evidence will show that the RCMP took him down with a taser jolt moments after approaching him.

... CTV reported there was a 12-minute delay before medical help arrived. Mr. Dziekanski died shortly after being tasered &#x26;#226;&#x26;#128;&#x26;#148; only 10 hours after arriving in the country that was to be his new home.

Asked to describe what he saw on the video, Mr. Kosteckyj replied: &#x22;I would describe it as something that will be shown to police academies around North America as not the way to intervene in this kind of situation.&#x22;

... Mr. Kosteckyj described how a journey to a new life devolved into a nightmarish scenario, in which Mr. Dziekanski was left wandering helpless and alone in a busy airport while his mother, Zofia Cisowski, was searching for him nearby.

... He said he could not explain why no one was able to come to the assistance of Mr. Dziekanski in an airport that handles 17 million visitors a year. &#x3C;/I&#x3E;

Apparently today the cops were ordered to give back the tape so we should see shortly what really happened. I doubt the RCMP are going to come out looking very good on this one.

Meanwhile a man has since died in Montreal afterbeing tazed, and a man in Toronto will apparently lose an eye due to a tazing incident. I don&#x27;t know any details about these two incidents.

I&#x27;ve reviewed the incident at the Kerry speech on Youtube, and it&#x27;s blatantly obvious that the police used excessive and unnecessary force in this case. I have to agree with the growing concensus that police officers are less effective at doing their jobs and their laziness or lack of skills is resulting in innocent people dying.

<title>[OPINIONS] Over response -posted by- C.Wagner</title>
<description>And now the police have confiscated a video of the incient which apparently shows the man acting out prior to the police showing up, and the polices&#x27; actions once on the scene, and the mans&#x27; subsequent death.

The man who recorded the incident is suing the Van. PD to get his tape back, and plans to make it public when he gets it. The cops are bubbling on about &#x22;jeopradizing an ongoing investigation&#x22;... I think they&#x27;re afraid the tape is going to make them look very bad, because in a news story on the CBC yesterday the man said that police accounts of the incident are quite a lot different than what actually happened.

<title>[OPINIONS] Good cop, bad cop. -posted by- C.Wagner</title>
<description>The point of my first post, and as Flab aptly pointed out, is that the skills &#x26; training that police officers are receiving appears to be on the decline, as officers are using devices like tasers more &#x26; more to replace conventional methods.

My uncle was a beat cop in downtown Edmonton in the 70&#x27;s and early 80&#x27;s, back when the inner city was really rough. He &#x26; his partner would get dropped off, and spend their shift walking. THe stories I&#x27;ve heard him tell are fascinating, and yet he never once had to pull his service pistol. He also agrees that tasers are for the most part a cop out (pardon the pun) and that new officers do not have the skills their predecessors did, and devices like tasers are a poor substitute.

<title>[OPINIONS] Cops misuse taser + don&#x27;t follow proper procedure = man dies -posted by- C.Wagner</title>
<description>Police have become complacent due to the introduction of these tools and their skillsets have diminished dramatically. People die because cops are poorly trained.

In the Vancouver incident, the man from Poland was excited and couldn&#x27;t communicate because he could not speak english. Surely, somewhere in the massive Vancouver International Airport, someone spoke Polish ?

The cops tased first, and asked questions later. THat&#x27;s all fine &#x26; good if you like living in a police state (as by the tasing incident at the Kerry speech it appears Americans are) But seriously if you think it is alright to subdue someone in that manner becuase they are not following directions or acting in a beligerant manner you shouldn&#x27;t be cop either.

According to several other stories the cops misuse of tasers has grown quite common. Perhaps in law enforcement officials know how to do their jobs properly these incidents could be avoided.
