[RWD] [120-130] Seam sealer -posted by- KaptKaos

Ospho is going on tonight. So that should take care of the rust. I hope to have the bedliner done by Thursday at the latest. I want to take the kids to soccer in it this weekend! We'll see.

[RWD] [120-130] Seam sealer -posted by- KaptKaos

My clutch master cylinder was bad and was likely bad for a while before I got the car. It dumped a load of brake fluid into the drivers foot well. Most of the asphalt sound deadening peeled right up. And a bunch of the seam sealer came out too.

This car is a budget build and I plan to paint the interior floor with roll-on truck bed liner. There are lots of reasons for this, and purists will disagree, but it's the way I am going.

Regardless, I need to put something in to seal those seams before I add the liner. Any recommendations?

[RWD] [120-130] Wagon doors?? -posted by- KaptKaos

Yeah... it's starting to get to me. There's a lot of dings in the car. I think I am going to wait on the paint for now.

I was hoping to find some doors, and fix them up. This way, I don't have to work on the ones on the car. Then I could swap them out.

Ughh.... gumption traps!!!!

[RWD] [120-130] Wagon doors?? -posted by- KaptKaos

Are the doors on the 122 Wagon the same as the doors on the 122 4-door?

I recently primed my car and now I can see every little imperfection. The doors are worse than I thought, a skim coat of bondo won't do it. So I figured it would be easier to find some better doors, assuming the 4-door doors are the same.

If wagon doors are unique, then I think I'm in trouble.

Let me know.

Thanks!

Here's the pix. They don't really show me what I need. I can't really tell how the bracket mounts to the three mount points and to the BMW seat. These are similar to the seats that I have.

[RWD] [120-130] clutch slave cylinder -posted by- KaptKaos

I got a copper washer, annealed it and installed it. Bled the system and.......

It still leaks. =(

So, now what?

I read the tech articles on the o-ring for the slave cylinder.

I'm not certain where exactly it is leaking, but pretty soon I will start replacing whole assemblies as I want this issue fixed.

However, I am still open to ideas. If you can think of anything else to try, please let me know.

Sorry to post here as well, but I really need a 122 front apron/ nose for my 122 wagon. I plan to paint really soon. I've been trying to find one without much luck, so I figured I'd throw it out here too.

Prefer something local to Los Angeles, so I can save on the shipping.

Please let me know what you got.

[RWD] [120-130] I need to buy some lug nuts and need advice -posted by- KaptKaos

Plenty of thread. I test mounted one and the studs are plenty long. The problem is that the stock steel wheel lug nuts are too short so that they recess too far into the wheel and then I can't get a wrench on them to get them out.

I guess I will need to bring the wheel with me to the shop so I can figure out the seat I'll need.

More to follow. Thanks for your help.

[RWD] [120-130] I need to buy some lug nuts and need advice -posted by- KaptKaos

I bought a set of wheels that came off of a Ford Explorer/Ranger. They look like old Centerlines (see attached). They're 15x7, so they should fill out the wheel wells nicely!

All I have are the stock lug nuts which are too short because the alloys have a deeper recess for the lug nuts. So I need new lug nuts.

Questions:

1) What size nuts am I looking for?

B) What type of seat do I need on those nuts?

All help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I've annealed the copper gaskets on my 914 exhaust. It's fun to do =)

I will report back with results!

[RWD] [120-130] clutch slave cylinder -posted by- KaptKaos

I rebuilt my clutch slave cylinder and replaced the hose from the hard line to the slave cylinder. It's got a slow leak from the hose to the slave cylinder. I think it may just be the threads to the slave. Is it possible to use something like silicon tape to help seal that up? Is that something that will work? I am trying to save a little money if possible.

Or am I just better off getting a new slave cylinder?

TIA

[RWD] [120-130] Lowering / Spring options -posted by- KaptKaos

Not trying to hijack, but I need some of this knowledge too. More specifically for a wagon. I know that the rear springs on a wagon are different than the rear springs on a sedan/coupe, and as far as I know, there are no lowering options other than cutting the rear springs on a wagon.

If anyone else has some insight here, I'd appreciate it. I don't want to slam the thing, just a smidge lower at all 4 corners.

TIA
