[RWD] [200] Please help w/multiple problems 240 -posted by- joni74

240 sedan shes pretty young with 125000 miles. replaced neutral safety switch. now the check engine light came on 2000 miles ago and its back on again after having it turned off. The bulb warning light has been on some time now and the lights work. it comes on when i turn the headlights on. could it be the bulb relay? I noticed in the past couple of weeks , there is a hesitation every now and then. The past two days I noticed when i start my car , the oil light stays on for a couple of seconds and i just put new oil in it and had it changed 6 mths ago. Put the car in drive and it actually stalled. The second time it wanted to but didnt. Like I said it doesnt happen often, but I know it will happen more. Is it easier to just take it for diagnostic test?

[RWD] [200] bulb warning light / check engine light -posted by- joni74

the light comes on when i turn the headlights on. I need to know where to check. as far as i know they work. i replaced the neutral safety switch because i didnt have reverse lights. but when i first got this car 1 yr ago , it did this when turning on headlights. Also check engine light is on again, it was reset about 2000 miles ago. I also noticed a slight hesitation/ idling but it doesnt do it most of the time. is it possible for the check engine light to be on because of the lights?

[RWD] [200] center caps front wheels -posted by- joni74

i did what u said and the backs are fine its the front ones even with the retaining ring ,if i was to push on the top part the bottom part slightly sticks out (not much) but its not very secure. they are on there but eventually will come off somehow. the back ones with the ring i had to pry off with a couple knives the front i just use my finger. so maybe cause theres a couple chips on the edges , i dont know.

[RWD] [200] center caps front wheels -posted by- joni74

89 volvo 240 sedan put 205/60/15 tires on with 15 slotted wheels (think from 940) which are yr basic looking volvo wheels. all is ok except the two front wheels. the center caps do not lock into place and i noticed the center hub sticking out and why does this stick out more . i do not have the insert retainer rings for the front two and was wondering what they are called and where to purchase from? i was told it was the center part sticking out that is why the center caps do not fit on. suggestions?

[RWD] [200] wheel fitment 240 -posted by- joni74

(89 240 dl sedan) i got my 15 " tires put on with 940 wheels that are 15 or 20 slotted (common wheels) , the center caps fit on the back and the fronts dont fit because of the hub center sticks out. I wanted to know why and what to do?maybe the center retainer rings ? i k=only had two and didnt know where else to get them . if anyone knows let me know. but from what i was told the guy said because of the center hub.retainer rings that snap into the center cap.

it seems as though when i say something about the tires or the hose , she feels like she needs to say something that they wont fit, or that the hose can be detached but not to cover it. I think she knows I know what I am talking about and she doesnt like it.

[RWD] [200] pre heat hose - - 205/60/15 tires -posted by- joni74

i went to a volvo garage and they only do volvos. the woman , who i think owns it, said that 205/60/15 would rub on my 240 sedan when turning sharp .miata says its a 2% difference and to stay within 3 %. i have already purchased my tires which are that size and kumho ecsta platinum lx. im just waiting for it to warm up some so i can clean the used wheels i purchased.great just what i wanted to hear. i dont know if shes right , as i also stated about my pre heat hose being detached and they reattached it , very easy, but she said you can get rid of it without plugging the hole, which on here everyone seems to cover the hole then, what do you think?

when you are standing in front of the car its more to the left . it looks like a plastic slinky hose a little more wider than regular hose. connects to a pipe or hose toward the windshield direction.i googled it and it looks more like the air intake hose with it looking like a slinky. maybe it is a pre heater hose .
