[AWD] [V70] [2001] Alarm Notification -posted by- ybnorml1

You can get the instructions to change this right from Volvo. Don't be fooled by the instructions on Mathews site, that is for an S80. For the V70 like ours you have to remove the front bumper and I believe the right headlight. I still haven't gotten around to change mine, I will try an post the link to change this from Volvo tomorrow.

[AWD] [V70] [2001] Alarm Notification -posted by- ybnorml1

Thanks TC

Followed your advice, then tried other tests like arming the car with the window down then reaching in a opening the door, result no alarm. Also had issues with sunroof not working then 15 minutes later would work fine. I've purchased a new siren mod and will put it in shortly.

For the past week we've been getting "alarm triggered, check car". The alarm never sounds but the LED on the dash is blinking furiously. Anybody ever experienced this and know a solution.

[AWD] [V70] [2001] CD player -posted by- ybnorml1

Okay, problem started when I changed the battery, and this seems to be the only problem that I haven't been able to resolve. Seems there was a CD in the player when I changed the battery and now it won't play nor will it come out, any ideas.
Things I've found out since "I" changed the battery. Dealers have a battery that they plug into cigarette lighter to hold settings. Changing the battery "can" generate an "SRS" WARNING, no matter what the dealer will tell you. I called several dealerships in Canada and one in Buffalo area. I was quoted anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours after explaining clearly that I'd changed the battery and this was when the error started. The dealer in Buffalo told me it would be at least a couple of hours because changing the battery can't generate that message.
I ended up making an appointment at the 30 minute quote dealer which happens to be about 40 minutes away. My wife took the car in for the appointment, gets there and is told that they can't look at the car because the computer is down. No apologies, no phone call and no offer to rebook. I called the dealer for 2 days, no "service mgr" or "GM" or "owner" is available to speak with and none of my messages are returned. On the 3rd day I get the assistant Service Manager who apologizes. This time when my wife takes it in, code is cleared and she's on her way in 10 minutes with no charge. This was my first experience dealing with dealers and it's a wonder there's any of them still in business. We have had this car for almost 5 months and 11,000kms and except for the electronics when they're not working right love this car. The T5 is so smooth and effortless.
Thanks for replies

[AWD] [V70] [2001] rear parking light -posted by- ybnorml1

Passenger side rear parking lamp isn't working, took the lower cover off and the connection for this lamp is right at the very top of the lower cover and is the only lamp with wires going to it. Anyways my question is how do you remove it to change the bulb.

[AWD] [V70] [2001] srs message -posted by- ybnorml1

I have to believe you were lucky, as the only think that was done was to remove old battery and replace it with a new one.

[AWD] [V70] [2001] srs message -posted by- ybnorml1

Last week I installed a new Volvo battery, followed the directions in the manual for disconnecting and reconnecting the cables. When I started the car the srs warning light came on and the message center tells me it's urgent to get to the dealer for the srs. I had left the sunroof open and it wouldn't work after the battery change, that was corrected by locking and unlocking the car with remote 3 times, but the srs warning won't go away. Called the dealer and explained the problem they said they would have to diagnose it, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

[AWD] [V70] [2001] Electrical -posted by- ybnorml1

Lately I have noticed when turn signals are on dash lights brightness goes up and down with the signal. Also when driving on the highway with A/C on seems to be noisy and the air seems to cause the car to run rough. Any ideas?

[AWD] [V70] [2001] Shocks -posted by- ybnorml1

Have the T5 with 242,000kms. Front end is creaking so I'm thinking about replacing the spring seats, struts and shocks. I'm have always used Koni in the past but this time leaning towards the HD Bilstiens as we might be getting trailer. Anyone have any experience or advice.

Thanks

[AWD] [V70] [2001] MAF -posted by- ybnorml1

No, the error was correct and apparently it has something to do with the trim being at upper limit. Car runs okay but has rough idle when cold. Since this car is new to us we don't know what the mileage should be like.

[AWD] [V70] [2001] MAF -posted by- ybnorml1

Got a code of 1171 and seems to point to MAF. Any opinions on replacements?
I see IPD has one, so there must be others out there or would Volvo's be the best bet.

Thanks in advance

[AWD] [V70] [2001] Wheels and Tires -posted by- ybnorml1

Hello Everyone

Just bought a 2001 V70 T5 with 17 inch wheels. Tires need replacing.
Anybody have any recommendations? Any opinions on 16" vs 17" on this car.
Not looking to race, looking for a smooth quiet ride with good performance in wet and dry(have snows for the winter).

Thanks for your responses in advance.

[AWD] [V70] [2000] Thinking about buying, want feedback or experience with the same! -posted by- ybnorml1

I'm thinking about buying a 2000 V70 and would like to know opinions of past and present owners of the same model. My 740 wagon passed on and the V70 seems to be the logical replacement.

Thanks
