[RWD] [120-130] [1966] 122 Horn Button Washer/Insulator -posted by- volvorine

I've read through as many threads regarding the horn washer. I believe my horn problem is due to a worn out button washer or insulator. My problem is when I removed the horn button, I didn't see any washer. Where is this washer located? Does anyone have a picture of the washer/insulator and where it is located? Thanks.

Hmmm, I wish I was getting 30 mpg. I've been getting 22 mpg with mostly freeway driving. What can I do to improve that?

[RWD] [120-130] [1966] Additional Information... -posted by- volvorine

A big thank you to Ron for the schematics and to everybody who responded. The next upgrades on my Volvo will be Hella 3rd brake light, Ron's lights on reminder and high-gloss metallic chrome paint on tailight bulb holder-reflectors. Again, thanks to all.

[RWD] [120-130] [1966] Headlight Buzzer -posted by- volvorine

Hi Ron, I like the second option. Is it possible to obtain a schematic diagram? I tried to decipher the connections from your description but I'm more of the visual type. BTW, I have received the starter switch, brake-light switch upgrade and emergency flasher switch and installed them with no problems. The brake-light switch upgrade has made me feel more comfortable driving in stop-and-go traffic. The other upgrade I have in mind is a 3rd brake light.

[RWD] [120-130] [1966] 850 Sedan 3rd Brake Light on 122S -posted by- volvorine

Just wondering if the 3rd brake light of a 850 sedan will mount properly against the windshield of a 122s? Are the angles or slopes of the 850 or 122s rear windshield similar? I'm looking at options to install a 3rd brake light in my 122s.

[RWD] [120-130] [1966] Rear Panel Insulation -posted by- volvorine

There is a big space behind the rear panels or rear wheel wells in a 122s 2-door sedan. Has anyone considered putting some type of insulation in there? Like insulation used for houses? I was thinking of doing something similar to what was done with the VW bus:

Or should those big spaces be left alone?

[RWD] [120-130] [1966] Bypass Heater -posted by- volvorine

The heater valve or thermostat in my 1966 Volvo 122s is leaking. At the moment, I don't want to repair it. Therefore, I'd like to bypass the heater valve and core. I think I know what to do but I need some assurances. Can I just connect the tubings from the water pump and the engine block together using a hose barb connector? Is this be safe?

[RWD] [120-130] Removing Seat Knob -posted by- volvorine

I've disassembled the seats of my 1966 Volvo 122s to paint the rusted frames. Question: How does one remove the knob that reclines the back of the seat? I want to paint the part of the seat this knob is attached to. I don't know if the know is screwed onto the reclining mechanism. Please advice.

[RWD] [120-130] [1966] 122s Sedan Sill or Rocker Panel Drain Holes -posted by- volvorine

Thanks for the replies, both useful and funny. I like the suggestion from 1966-estate. I will not use water. When I bought the car, for some reason there's alot of rice in these hidden areas. Don't ask me how it got there for I don't want to ask the previous owner. Instead of a mouse, I found a skull of a chicken by the rear well. Seriously. Happy Holidays.

[RWD] [120-130] Windlace Question -posted by- volvorine

The 122s 2-door sedan I recently bought had no headliner and windlace. I'm in the process of installing them. I bought windlace from Swedish Treasures. Question: Do the rear windows require windlace? Can someone send me pictures of how the windlace looks like inside the car? Thanks.

[RWD] [120-130] [1966] 122s Sedan Sill or Rocker Panel Drain Holes -posted by- volvorine

I'm in the process of cleaning up the interior of a 1966 Volvo 122s 2-door sedan. I recently purchase this car and during the process of cleaning up the interior, I found a lot of things that needed cleaning. Anyways, I was thinking of using pressurized water to clean the insides of the doors and rocker panel or sills. I know that the doors have holes to allow water to drain. Do the rocker panels have drain holes? I don't want to introduce water into the rocker panels to promote rust. In the end, I plan to use Eastwood's Heavy Anti-Rust in these hidden compartments to hopefully prevent future rust formation.
