[RWD] [200] Keyless entry -posted by- Nel621

I thought there would be a way to unlock the trunk without unlocking the doors.I have a 90 240DL.The way I have it set up now is everything opens and closes at the same time.I know the trunk won't "pop" but I thought maybe it could be opened alone.I was just curious if someone had tried this arrangement and how they did it.I can live with the all doors all the time thing. Now to look for a broken wire.I don't like the idea that my central looking system is only working with the fob. It's a bit of a PIA.

[RWD] [200] Fixing the small clock - tutorial -posted by- Nel621

I have that keyless setup system from JCwhitney on my 90 240DL.You will also need a power door lock motor and rod for the drivers side. You can then tap the power wires off the rear left door lock motor. It is pretty straight forward. You can also set it up to unluck just the trunk but I did not do this.Worked great. The only bummer part now is that the central locking control that wraps around the door lock cylinder stopped working. So when I'm in the car and need to lock the doors I have to use the key fob.The doors won't lock using the door knob.Too lazy to change it.

[RWD] [200] 240 to 850? -posted by- Nel621

Don't know if the 850s are shade tree friendly as i only know 240s.On the bright side every time I've gone hunting for 240 parts at the yards I only find 850s,and in really good condition, the cars are usually complete.Maybe the people owning these cars don't go looking for parts, they just scrap them when they break.Stand firm, look for a 240!

[RWD] [200] Muffler maintenence -posted by- Nel621

I'm working on 2 different 240s right now with the same problem in your pic.On one I used a piece of pipe as a sleeve to shore up the break. Not pretty, minor leak but hey it is more quite and does not hang down, car is not a keeper. For the other car I ordered a new exhaust from FCP.I was thinking about coating the inside of the pipes at the joints with POR or some type of anti-rust paint.Maybe it will help.

[RWD] [200] Why the extra 2 screws on the golve box? -posted by- Nel621

Mother Volvo must have been having a bad day when she decided to mess with the 240 crowd.I have had a few volvos and never had a problem with glove box hinges.I curently have 6 volvos and this is the first with the 2 nightmare, need a special screwdriver, hard to reach fastners.I can't see how having these 2 extra screws would help the hinges.I think the hinges break because the plastic becomes brittle.Or if you are in the habit of letting the door fall open on its own instead of supporting it on the way down.

I was toying with the idea to replace the motor on the 92.It has 245k plus and some real loud piston slap on start up.After about 10 min. it is not as loud but still noticeable.I was only thinking about the swap to make the car more saleable.I may just sell it as is.

Found a low milage 93 engine L block.I think this is the same motor as my 92 except for the so-called squirters, yes?Aside from the motor will I only need the computer? Will everything else be the same?I think the motor comes with the wire harness, not sure.Just wondering if this is a straight swap or would a 92 motor be better?
