<title>[RWD] [200] [1993] A/C Problems 2 questions -posted by- mr.zorak</title>
<description>1. The schrader valve on the low side where I add the freon will not register any pressure on my gauge. I tried to add some freon but it will not go in. I pressed the valve and it was able to get it to hiss, but the gas coming out of it was not cold?

2. I jumped the wire on the dryer with a paper clip, and was not able to get the compressor to turn on. Bad compressor? Original one at 247K.

I checked fuse and it is patent.

Thoughts?

<title>[RWD] [200] My mechanic tells me $110 to fix ac system? -posted by- mr.zorak</title>
<description>My mechanic that I have used for years and trust retrofitted, checked and filled my daughter&#x27;s 92 740 for 85.00. It will freeze your brain it works so well and has done so for years. He did not have to replace any seals he said. He evacuated it and it held pressure like a champ.

<title>[RWD] [700] [1992] Thermostat question: Is a clicking sound normal? -posted by- mr.zorak</title>
<description>Cold engine, grab the upper hose, squeeze, hear a squish in the plastic reservor tank and a click in the thermostat housing. In a cold engine, shouldn&#x27;t the thermostat be quiet?

I ask because of the jumpy thermostat gauge in the cluster and the possible bad thermostat issue.

<title>[RWD] [200] [1993] Sticky Black Mastic: What is it and can it be bought? -posted by- mr.zorak</title>
<description>I used a gob of it to secure my son&#x27;s Sirius radio holder to the dash of the 240 (fortunately the dash is black also), in that the suction cup on the bottom would not hold on the dash&#x27;s pebbly surface. I do not want the radio mounted on the windshield (obstructs view) in his car.

Is there a way to test the thermostat in any way except by opening her up and looking for a broken arm?

<title>[RWD] [700] [1992] Jiggling temperature gauge needle???? -posted by- mr.zorak</title>
<description>I replaced the temperature sensor that screws in the side of the block 2 years ago. I noticed driving it today, the needle sits about mid way as usual, but sometimes when slowing down or idling it drops to about (if it were a clock face, mid way is about 1200) to about 1045 and jiggles between there and 1200, sometimes dipping to about 1000. It does not quit working, and it stays steady at 1200 most of the time.

Thoughts on a fix or don&#x27;t worry this is normal..\\?

<title>[RWD] [200] [1993] Sticky Black Mastic: What is it and can it be bought? -posted by- mr.zorak</title>
<description>In fixing my son&#x27;s a/c I happened upon that wonderful sticky black mastic &#x22;gorilla snot&#x22; in the junkyard. I pulled a ballof it loose and took it with me to seal the new a/c repair. I was amazed that after that many years it was still pliable and how good a job it does in sealing air leaks.

Who makes it and can it be bought? Or do I have to be a &#x22;grave robber&#x22; when I go to the pick/pull and get it out of the dead number series carcasses?

Just wordering...

<title>[RWD] [200] [1993] Turn indicators dead and cruise control but brake lights work -posted by- mr.zorak</title>
<description>Coming to work this morning, halfway there the turn indicators stopped working. These are the facts I was able to discerne at the work parking lot:

The brake lights work, the emergency flashers work, all bulbs involved are functional in these areas.

Since I have been trying to trace my cruse control not working, is it possible the switch is bad? The cruise has been out for months, but the turn lights just died today.

Where to start looking. I though bulb failure relay, but the brake lights function????
Thanks for the help
