[RWD] [900] [1991] 1991 940 Turbo head gasket and compression problems -posted by- Mr brick driver

Well I dove into the bad compression 1991 944 Turbo last night. I removed thead and found that the headgasket was broken between the two middle cylenders. I'm going to futher inspect the head and the block, I did not see anything obvious as it was getting dark, so I will look later today. I did have a couple of cylenders that were bad 30lbs and 0lbs! Any advice? It seems like the headgasket might be my problem, but I want to make sure. This is the first time I have taken apart a motor, but this was going to be a parts car but my mom wants it, so I decided to take on the challenge!

[RWD] [700] Replaced pads and Rotors 1992 745 TI Brakes not firm enough yet and click sound. -posted by- Mr brick driver

I have the above mentioned car with the abs breaking system. I just changed all four rotors and installed new pads all the way around. I went and blead the breaks according to the Bently service manual, and while they work, they do not seem as responcive as my original breakes which were whore out. Also, while the pedel does not go all the way to the floor, it seems like when I'm stopped and push down as hard as I can, their is a slight click in the system. I'm lost at this point. Any advice before I bring it in the shop and ask for a bailout?lol

Looking at the above mentioned car. Drove it it drove great, but the turn signels, sunroof, powerwindows and shiftlock control did not work. I'm thinking that their must be some simple relay that is causing this problem or something. Can't believe that every compoenet is broke. Wow these are nice driving cars.

[RWD] [200] strut rod bearings/bushings 1985 245 Turbo wagon...where to buy -posted by- Mr brick driver

I have the above mentioned car. I ordered the parts in subject from IPD. My mechanic looked at the parts and noted that they casting on the metal did not look great and that they were made in Korea. I then did further research and found that I could get the Volvo ones for about twice the price. So, What should I do?

[RWD] [200] [1985] What is the best tire size for a 1985 245 turbo wagon m46 -posted by- Mr brick driver

I need to put tires on the above mentioned car. I see that the car came originaly with 195/60/15 not 205/65/15. Which size should I go with. The car has IPD 25/25 bars. I also have a 1992 745 turbo and it originally came with the 195/60/15 tire size, where as my friends 1994 945 turbo came with 205/65/15 Same car as far as I can tell what gives?

[RWD] [200] [1985] Is their a safe way to change strut mount bearings -posted by- Mr brick driver

I just bought a beautiful 1985 240 turbo wagon. It need tires. I wanted to make sure that the supension was in good shape before I had it allingned. I was told that I should do the inner tie rods and the strut bushings. I think I can do the strut bushings, but wondering if I can make using spring compressers safer by useing two sets at once. (Ie have four compressors on the spring.) If not, maybe I should just pay the extra money.

[RWD] [200] [1983] 1983 240 turbo Backfires and will not idle. but drives -posted by- Mr brick driver

I own the above mentioned car. I have not dirven it for a couple of weeks. I decided to drive it to class on Thursday and all was fine. I then drove it to the store, parked it went in and came out to restart. Just as I pulled out of the lot, the idle surged to 3,000. I shout it off immediatly and restarted. The car would then just not idle. I did not see anything obvious in terms of popped of vaccume lines or turbo hoses. Does anyone have any idea before I push it off the cliff? lol I'm on the verge of putting a LH manifold on it, but I want it to run right before I do that in case that creates other prolems. Though If I'm going to repalce vaccume lines I will need to pull the manifold anyway.

It needs a few things, but there is something that is speical about the 245 that I don't see in the 745TI that I also own. Don't get me wrong I love the 7, but there is something about a good 245.

[RWD] [200] [1983] 1983 240 turbo warm start problems -posted by- Mr brick driver

I own the above mentioned car. I have found that I can start it first thing in the morning and it does fine. However, when I go to school or let it sit for a couple hours and come back to it there is a difficult time getting it to start. Omce it does start in this difficult warm state, I find that it often requies that I hold the gas peddle down for about 1.5 minutes to make sure that it does not die, then it will do fine. I'm going to repalce the vaccume line this weekend, but what else should I do to make sure I get this problem. I really hate guess in the dark.

I think that I will be buying a 1983 242 Tplus 740 intercooled. Anyway, the car is presentable, misssing some trim, and has two or three quater size owees in the paint. I have always wanted one of these, but I wanted one in the shave of my 745 that I bought this summer. However, I'm dealing with a model that is ten years older. I think I still want it, but others around me are calling me crazy.

[RWD] [900] 940 power seat problems -posted by- Mr brick driver

Okay, thanks. I will have to take a look and see where the seat is again. It apears that it is in a level positon in terms of left to right on the seat track. Also, noticed that the motor must still engage somewhat as when I hit the back or forward buttone it makes a click at the motor. So, how do I get to these cables that you speak off. Do you have any pictures? What is the exact process. I'm fairly good with things, but I'm not picturing how this works. Thanks again.

[RWD] [200] Long term Volvo Owner looking for the nice classic 245 what to choose -posted by- Mr brick driver

I have driven Volvos for eight years. I have had a few 240s and I still have my very first car a well sorted 1988 244. I also have a 1992 745 turbo wagon and a 1994 945 turbo wagon. I want another 245 though. I don't know if I should look for the perfect 1991-1992 245 or look for a grandparents owned 1984-1984 turbo wagon. The car must be a manual, and it must have great original paint. I suppose the dream would be a mint condition black on black 245 with around 100k. Thats going to be hard to find. I'm not going to hot rod the car, so maybe I should just settle for a non- turbo model. Ideas?
