<title>[RWD] [200] [1984] Its been a long, long time, but I might be bringing back the brick... -posted by- OliverG</title>
<description>I&#x27;ve been driving a 95 Pathfinder for the last 3 years but I think the better mileage and insurance rate of the 245 might be calling my name. The only trouble is that she&#x27;s parked 2.5 hours south in Vancouver and not in the best condition (moisture, mold, oil/tranny leaks etc.) But she&#x27;s got fairly new Yokohama tires!

So perhaps this is my chance for a project. Get the brick in running condition and build up the off-road capability of the Nissan.

Well, that&#x27;s kinda what I&#x27;m thinking, anyway...

<description>Hehe, I bet they would too...
I think I&#x27;ll also adorn my brick with a nice oval 7.62 sticker beside my NRA logo, so as not to be confused with a lib.

<title>[RWD] [200] What to do with my POS when I leave? -posted by- OliverG</title>
<description>What it really needs is an engine rebuild. Its a tired motor and I don&#x27;t know what all is needed, but it does run, however. It also needs a new OD soleniod, resealed rear windows and some bodywork to plug holes.
It needs new carpet and padding inside (as well as rebuilt seats) and paint on the outside.
I don&#x27;t have the time or money to do everything, or anything, for that matter.
But maybe some Volvo lover will drive it away for a few hundred...
It just know that it doesn&#x27;t inspire the confidence to make that 400 mile drive to school.
Its a shame, I had big plans for the old girl. What she lacks in...really anything good, she makes up for in distant potential.

<title>[RWD] [200] What to do with my POS when I leave? -posted by- OliverG</title>
<description>I&#x27;d planned to make this car really nice originally. Now that I&#x27;ve succeeded in making it far less weatherproof and ugly enough to not sell for anything, what should I do?
Im leaving for school in Jan and it is not coming with me.
At this point I have no interest in keeping it for later in life and I don&#x27;t want to burden my folks with it sitting here for an extended period of time...
Plus, I&#x27;m tired of this huge hideous failure staring back at me every day when I drive it.

Ya know, I have always wanted to see a car go in a crusher and make a loud crunch.

Maybe one of you has a .30 cal. chain gun I can borrow

<title>[RWD] [200] XC90 V8! -posted by- OliverG</title>
<description>Giddyup! Did anyone else see this story on swedespeed.com? Volvo designed the motor specifically for the XC90 but I can think of some more good applications.
Seeing as how the motor is mounted transversly wouldn&#x27;t it be sweet if someone shoehorned it into an 850/*70/S80 or even an S40?
Wouldn&#x27;t it be nice to cruise around in an R with that sweet V8 rumble coming out twin 3&#x22; pipes? Hehe

<title>[AWD] Heard of company called &#x27;ERST&#x27; anyone? -posted by- OliverG</title>
<description>While cruising around the Swedespeed photo gallery I came across a set of beautifully tuned S70&#x27;s by a company called &#x22;ERST.&#x22; I&#x27;m assuming they&#x27;re German since that word means &#x22;first&#x22; in German but I&#x27;m not sure.
Thanks for any leads.

<title>[AWD] [850] Blinking Orange Arrow -posted by- OliverG</title>
<description>The other night I was driving my mom&#x27;s 96 850 when it began sort of lurching at stops and things. Then later the orange arrow signifying &#x27;winter mode&#x27; began blinking and hasn&#x27;t stopped. The book claimed an error in the gearbox. Our mechanic said it was &#x22;just in winter mode.&#x22; It was not and the light continues to blink...
Why?
Thanks

<title>[RWD] [200] Looks like my brick will join me in the great frozen east. -posted by- OliverG</title>
<description>Yeah I should have clarified in the original post. By east I&#x27;m talking east of here in the Portland, OR area. Heading to northeast Washington. Near Spokane. I&#x27;ll be attending Eastern WA U.
We here get nice, mile, albeit wet, winters. Over there they get long cold snowed-in type winters.

<title>[RWD] [200] [1984] Brighter license plate lights- Any ideas on how? -posted by- OliverG</title>
<description>Well I cruise around w/o lisence lights due to tailgate wiring I haven&#x27;t made time to fix.
I got pulled over a couple weeks ago for displaying my front plate on my dash instead of the bumper. Apparently he was the only cop in the county who knew of this law, but he was nice and let me go without a ticket.
As far as stickers on the tri-color hippie car?
1. NRA
2. A local college I went to
3. Brickboard

I don&#x27;t know what he would have thought about them.

I have yet to be stopped at night...

<title>[RWD] [200] Looks like my brick will join me in the great frozen east. -posted by- OliverG</title>
<description>Well, after a couple weeks looking around at car prices my dad has come to the conclusion that putting a few hundred or so into the old brick would be a better bet than putting a few thousand into someone else&#x27;s used car.
I was glad to hear that since I&#x27;ve put $500 or so into tires and brakes in the last four months. I&#x27;d like to get my valve clearences looked at now and have the cat. replaced.
I think the water pump was replaced a few years back. The tranny is good save for the OD relay. I can fix the tailgate wiring soon and change the fluids etc.
What would be some other smart items to consider on this 200K+ beast?
Thanks Much
With renewed enthusiasm

<title>[RWD] [200] [1984] I may soon be parting with my brick : ( -posted by- OliverG</title>
<description>I know very well how well these cars go. This car treked several times between Colorado and Washington in her younger days.
The thing is that my car is not in very good running condition as of now. We&#x27;ve put loads of $ into her over the years and she&#x27;s probably pushing 250K.
(but who knows really)
I&#x27;d love to be able to get her in good shape but time is running out and I don&#x27;t know what the car would need to get replaced/fixed and I don&#x27;t have the know-how to do very much myself.

However, I may be interested in investing in a kindly treated newer Volvo. Something post 1990 in the way of a 945 would be great since I have heard that the 940 is considered by some to be the pinicle of the 4cyl evolution. I know also that 4WD is no guarentee in bad conditions but a stick would proove useful no?

I do love these cars but I just don&#x27;t feel comfortable limping my girl across the high plains.

No offence to the Volvo Gods intended.

<description>I&#x27;m planning on enrolling at Eastern WA University in the winter (or maybe fall if I can pull it off.)
Unfortunately for the Volvo EWU is about 350 miles away across scorching or snow-covered eastern Washington state.
My dad gave me the final word that the old girl will not be joining me..
I hope they&#x27;ll throw a tarp on to save her for later when I have lots of money to pour into her :)

Anyway, thought I share that with ya&#x27;ll. I guess the search begins for something of a 4X4 with a good heater and AC....any advice there?
Thanks as always
