<title>[RWD] [200] [1992] Looking for vinyl seat cleaner recommendations -posted by- don hodgdon</title>
<description>Murphy&#x27;s Oil Soap works really well on vinyl. I used it to clean the headliner. visors, dash and door panels on my 242. There&#x27;s no residue and it leaves a nice matte finish. It also smells great and helps get rid of any musty &#x22;old-car&#x22; smell.

For further protection, I follow up with a liberal dose of Vinylex.

<title>[RWD] [700] [1989] How to know a leaking fuel injector -posted by- don hodgdon</title>
<description>You can lightly spray some WD-40 around the base of each injector while the car is at idle. If the idle changes, you&#x27;ve found your culprit, a leaking injector seal. They are simple to replace.

Carb cleaner works as well, it&#x27;s just a bit more volatile. Have a fire extinguisher handy.

<title>[RWD] [200] Drop everything and vacuum leaves/junk out of your rocker panels, preserve your brick -posted by- don hodgdon</title>
<description>Excellent advice! I used a 25 gallon ShopVac when I cleared out my rockers and filled the thing half way with leaves and dirt. It was ugly! The leaves were not only packed into the rockers but about of foot of front fender on either side was filled as well. Opening the floor vent was impossible without being showered in leaves. I was just lucky the car came from Southern California so there was little rain to mix with the mulch in my fenders ;-)

<title>[RWD] [200] cleaning wheels -posted by- don hodgdon</title>
<description>I&#x27;ve had pretty good results with wheel cleaners from Super Clean, Mothers and Meguiars. I&#x27;ve used them on polished wheels and painted (clear coated) wheels with no finish problems.

I have a selection of stiff nylon brushes and some of those sponge type paint brushes that I use on those hard to reach nooks and crannies.

The first set of Coronas I had were so crusty I had to use a Dremel to clean them!

<title>[RWD] [200] Wiring Fog Lights on 92&#x27; 244 -posted by- don hodgdon</title>
<description>I do have some better diagrams on my computer at home but am out of town for the Long Beach GP. I&#x27;ll try to remember to post them up when I get back to town.

I think it was the Summit Racing site that had very good aftermarket fog light/running light wiring diagrams.

<title>[RWD] [200] Brace your brick on the cheap -posted by- don hodgdon</title>
<description>Luke, nice job on the braces.

Just a word of warning...did you know that the factory upper braces have a small hole drilled in the underside of the brace, a couple of inches back from the firewall mounting point? The holes are there so that, in case of a frontal collision, the brace will collapse and not pierce the firewall and potentially injure the occupants.

<title>[RWD] [200] Urethane Motor and Tranny Mounts for Volvo 240 -posted by- don hodgdon</title>
<description>There has been a fair amount of talk about the poly engine mounts on Turbobricks with a lot of reports of mount failure.

Personally, I&#x27;d use diesel engine mounts (slightly stiffer than the gas engine mounts), and stock tranny mounts.

<title>[RWD] [200] Does anyone know if there is E code headlights available for an &#x27;83 240? -posted by- don hodgdon</title>
<description>Yes there are e-codes available for the early 240s. Your best bet is to find some in Europe and have them shipped over. Expect to pay around $300.00 plus shipping.

Check Ebay and the classified sections here, IPD and at Turbobricks.

Do not buy e-codes from England or Australia, the light pattern is wrong for those of us who drive on the right side of the road.

E-codes on an &#x27;81 Turbo:

<title>[RWD] [200] [1985] 1985 245 Engine wiring harness -posted by- don hodgdon</title>
<description>One option would be to make your own. The first time I pulled one from a car I realized how easy it would be to make. Pull your old harness, lay it out on the ground and start measuring. With a little care, the connectors can be removed and reused on the new harness or you can buy new ones.

Dave Barton has photos of all the different wiring harnesses with the connectors labeled. I&#x27;ll bet he&#x27;d send you one if you ask nice ;-)

As far as the gray connector...it&#x27;s been years since I pulled one, but I don&#x27;t remember it being difficult at all. Most cars I&#x27;ve worked on, the thing is just flopping around, not attached to anything.

Good luck.

<title>[RWD] [200] [1985] Extra wire in Engine Compartment -posted by- don hodgdon</title>
<description>It&#x27;s been a while, but IIRC, on 200 series cars, there is a 2-pin diagnostic connector attached to the one of the valve cover bolts, near the back of the cover on the driver&#x27;s side(North America). It actually serves no purpose after the car leaves the factory. Someone may have removed it from the valve cover and just let it flop around.

<title>[RWD] [700] B230FT - What mileage do you get? -posted by- don hodgdon</title>
<description>89 744ti 300,000+ miles. I have a very heavy right foot. New plugs and wires, new air filter, new cap and rotor, regular oil changes (3000 miles).

Normal mixed driving (highway and city) about 19-20mpg.

Straight highway driving, about 21-22mpg.

When gas hit $5.00+ per gallon here last summer, I tried driving with an eye towards better fuel mileage, easier takeoffs, speed limit on the freeway, etc., I was able to squeeze 24mpg out of the beast.
