<description>I second that, very good advice. In addition, I smear the terminals and the connectors with a thin layer of conductive copper paste.

<title>[RWD] [700] [1991] Road speed at Tach readings -posted by- Erling</title>
<description>I strongly support Aleekat&#x27;s advice regarding using a GPS. A standard, handheld GPS will typically have 0.1 mph accuracy on flat ground. Other drivers&#x27; experiences with their cars will vary with tire circumference, speedometer accuracy etc. Be aware that circumference may vary with +- 5 pct from manufacturer to manufacturer for the same dimension tire.

<description>Hi Charles;
In the pull-down menu on the top right, there is an option called &#x22;Report trouble&#x22; (http://www.brickboard.com/TOOLS/problem.htm). The field is meant for reporting software problems like you describe.

I am familiar with what you describe, I have been trying to edit my profile for ages without success.

<title>[RWD] [200] Subaru, Off Topic, I need a cram course on Subaru -posted by- Erling</title>
<description>Hi Charley;
I bought a 2004 Subaru Forester XT, manual transmission, turbo engine, in June and am so far quite pleased with it. It&#x27;s a simple, rugged car, I read someone calling it the equivalent of a modern Volvo 245. The only downside is that it is a gas engine, not diesel, and that consumption is a bit on the high side. The combination of a boxer engine and permanent 4WD has its price I suppose.

I have found this bulletin board quite good for my purposes:
&#x3C;a href=http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/&#x3E;http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/&#x3C;/a&#x3E;

Good luck,
Erling.

<title>[RWD] [200] Seat fixing web site up and running -posted by- Erling</title>
<description>Hi all,
Many of you have in the past benefited from Tony H&#x27;s brilliant seat repair instructions that I hosted on my Volvo 240 web site. In May I lost access to the server, and the site has been down since. Until this weekend, when I relocated to &#x3C;a href=http://home.lyse.net/brox/Volvoindex.html&#x3E;http://home.lyse.net/brox/Volvoindex.html&#x3C;/a&#x3E;

If you want to fix your worn and broken driver&#x27;s seat, look no further!

Regards,
Erling

<title>[RWD] [200] [1989] Central Locking failure -posted by- Erling</title>
<description>Aha! This sounds familiar!
As mentioned, there is a doughnut-shaped switch that wraps around the cylinder. The cylinder has a tab that activates a white plastic &#x22;fork&#x22; that connects to the switch. After the doughnut came apart for the second time, I drilled a hole and used a tiny zip-tie to keep the ends together. No problems since.

A picture is much better than my muddled words:

<title>[RWD] [200] adding passenger door central lock -posted by- Erling</title>
<description>Hi Martin;
If you have original central locking, the driver&#x27;s door is the only one lacking the actuator. It is certainly possible - in fact not very difficult - to add one. It only makes sense if you are also adding remote control though. I have done both, as others have, and will be happy to point you to good posts on this.

If you do not have central locking, adding the whole system is quite feasable too. The original CL included all passenger doors but as mentioned not the driver&#x27;s door.

<title>[OPINIONS] Perhaps Volvo is embarrassed-? -posted by- Erling</title>
<description>I read a long and interesting article on the Volvo company in our domestic financial newspaper the other week. In the article Olle Axelsson, head of information at Volvo Car Corporation, is quoted saying that &#x22;... the 240 was safe, boxy and durable. The parents could buy a Volvo 240, drive it for 15 years and then pass it on to their children. That way the model is a heavy burden for us. It is hard to change a company&#x27;s image when you have cars like that driving around.&#x22;

So us keeping our cars on the road is apparently not all that popular with Volvo of today. Or at least, they seem to have split feelings about it.

<title>[RWD] [200] Front Sway bar. Just the Bushings or saddles too? -posted by- Erling</title>
<description>Tony;
The way I remember it from when I did mine, the brackets/saddles were different. I bought my turbo sways new-in-box from the Volvo dealer and I&#x27;m almost positive that the kit came with brackets to allow for larger OD bushings.

You won&#x27;t regret the switch. The heavier sways did a world of difference.
