There is free parking in Fort Worth on weekends and I know of a good lot where we can all park together. You will need about $10-15 to eat/drink with. Once everyone is done eating we will make a short cruise back with a stop or two for photos (weather permitting) along the way- So bring your camera. %0D%0A%0D%0AOnce we are back at the house we will hang out and drink (I'll have some beer...if you want something specific bring it...if you're a minor you are not drinking). I've got a nice bar/game room with air hockey, foose ball, etc. At some point we will do a gift exchange- you will need a $10-15 Volvo related gift- make sure it is wrapped (you don't HAVE to participate but it would be nice if everyone would). %0D%0A%0D%0AThat's the majority of the plans, if folks want to hang out past 5pm we can always go to dinner and go out for a night time photoshoot. I'm sure a few of us will do this.%0D%0A%0D%0AI do have some extra space at my house for out of town folks that would like somewhere to stay- just let me know in advance so I can make sure I have enough room. Unlike most meets I have hosted we won't be able to wrench at this meet. I don't have a garage built here yet and only limited tools- so don't plan any repairs other than if your Volvo breaks down in route.%0D%0A%0D%0AFor my address or directions shoot me an e-mail ntosie@hotmail.com%0D%0A%0D%0A%0D%0AThe only thing I ask is- If you're a minor please do not drink at my house. When arriving or leaving please DO NOT SPEED through our neighborhood- seriously this isn't like my parents house out in the country. Oh...and have a good time :)%0D%0A%0D%0AI really hope to see some other folks attend than the normal DFW people- $20 for all day entertainment is cheap and I've offered you a place to stay if needed.%0D%0A%0D%0AHope to see many of you on the 19th!%0D%0A http://www.brickboard.com/GATHERINGS/volvo/1390532/texas_christmas_meet_121909_fort_worth_tx.html?rss=1 Sat, 5 Dec 2009 17:21 GMT Sacramento Chapter: December 12, 2009- 2010 Planning Meeting -posted by- volvie! The seller has been very upfront about what repairs he has made and what repairs will need to be made. The car looks great and has 111,000 miles on it. The price is $2000 which sounds really good, but we are concerned about the repair costs that will be coming in the future. I can take it to a reputable Volvo repair shop for a pre-purchase inspection. Does this purchase sound like a good deal? Any advice would be appreciated. http://www.brickboard.com/GATHERINGS/volvo/1364274/advice_used_volvo_purchase.html?rss=1 Thu, 6 Aug 2009 14:10 GMT Advice on used Volvo purchase -posted by- KlausC Mainly because I bought the "kit" from FCPGroton and tried to use their excuse for an intake mani gasket. After I got a replacement from the dealer, it went much easier. My 5 hour job went to 9 hours. I had a hard time with the #5 cyl manifold bolt until I removed the throttle body (which needed cleaning). I also managed to loose a 10mm driver which fell between the starter and block, nevver to be seen again!%0D%0AWith a few shortcuts, it would now take me 3 hours. Let me know on the FWD section and I will pass them along...%0D%0A%0D%0AKlaus%0D%0A%0A--%0AThe more I learn, the more I forget. The only $$ problem area is the AC, if the evaporator leaks it is a 10 hour operation to replace it - lots of labor $$$.%0D%0A%0D%0AIf you do not DIY, this car can become expensive. I can do 4 brake rotors and pads for a couple of hundred in parts, a shop will charge $6-900.%0D%0AThe hardest thing I have ever done is replacing the oil separator, which can get clogged and start causing extensive damage to engine seals.%0D%0A%0D%0ATake it your Indy and have it gone over for about $100. A worthwhile investment for any used car. Remember, everything he finds does not need to be fixed, but should be watched. I had my 1998 R insepected by Volvo, and they told be the steering rack needed to be replaced. Another mechanic said it was only weeeping and this went away for the next 55K miles - I never turn the wheel to lock and hold it there :)%0D%0A%0D%0AAsk your neighbor to supply you with all of the maintenance records and then keep a book of them. If you wish to resell in a few years, that book will be worth $5-800 to the next person.%0D%0A%0D%0ABTW, next time, there is a section on the brickboard for AWD/FWD cars and many people to help you.
