Resolved--Car died, now what . . . .

Thanks to all who responded to my earlier post.

Turns out that the little hose that connects the in-tank/pre-pump to the line leading to the main pump "went away." Found out that just because I could hear the pump, and the gauge read just over 1/2 tank, didn't mean the engine was getting gas . . . . boy is my face red . . . .

Anyways, I decided to put a couple gallons of gas in it before I tried anything more expensive, and after a couple of turns on the starter it fired right up.

I have a new conector hose on order--will do the pump at the same time (236K miles--why push my luck?). Also have a new filter sock already on hand, so . . .

If I run into any problems, you can be sure I'll let you know.

An old doctor my wife once worked for used to say "When you hear hoof-beats, look for horses, not zebras." Guess he was right again.

Best regards,

Steve A-
