For sale is a 1988 Volvo 740 GLE station wagon with a Ford 5.0 Liter HO V8 and Ford AOD transmission. The engine and transmission conversion was done by the owner before me so I can't give many specifics about it. I have only put about 2,000 miles on it since I got it two years ago. I was hoping that it would be a project car but lack of money and equipment has prompted me to sell it. It is a good starting base for someone who wants a converted Volvo V8 wagon project.
I have done the following since I have had it:
Installed a 3.73 ratio locking rear axle (1041) out of a '91 Volvo 940 turbo.
Installed Powerheads ported E7TE cylinder heads.
Ford Racing 1.6 ratio roller rocker arms
Installed ported stock lower intake manifold.
Performed general tune up with new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, O2 sensors.
Rundown of general parts/features:
Ford 302 HO engine out of a 1993 Ford Thunderbird
K&N Cone Filter
Ford AOD transmission with Baumann shift kit, A+ Overdrive Servo,
B&M tranmission cooler
Electronic ratio adapter to correct speedometer/odometer in relation to the 3.73 rear axle
Tow hitch
3rd row seat (no seatbelts on the 3rd row seat)
199xxx miles on the chassis
Unknown miles on the engine
Transmission has about 7000 miles on it since rebuild by previous owner
Asking $3,000 OBO. It is a 20 year old car so there is some rust, but not too bad for a car of that age.
Call or e-mail for more details or to schedule a test drive. The pictures shown below are from when I bought the car two years ago. I will post newer pictures when I can.
