converse kit for sale/trade

since i've been doing the veggie diesel thing for almost 2 years now with a benz, my plans have changed for my bertone. free fuel is addictive. i was about half finished doing a converse conversion on my 81 bertone and i've decided to go veggie hotrod. i need a running d24t with manual tranny bellhousing and preferably the tranny too. i also need a 200 series diesel tank and accesories plus the engine wiring to firewall for the d24t.

i have a mustang 5.0 with t5 and engine computer that ran when i pulled it. the power steering pump is missing. i've got the 200 series converse kit, and poly motor mounts for the 5.0.

location: san marcos, tx i would prefer to swap with someone in texas if possible.

anyone interested?

I run a D24T on veggie myself. Mine is a complete 85 745 DT and I use a greasecar kit. I switched the ZF tranny to a M46 with o/d.

Good luck on finding the parts !!

I recently converted a 92 745 Turbo to diesel using another D24T with ZF that I got out of a beat up 85 diesel sedan. That hulk is gone but I still have the front springs if you need them. It turns out the 92 wagon gasser had the same springs.

I wish I were closer . . . (I'm in VA)

I converted a d24-powered 245 to b230f some years back. While most of the diesel-related parts--and the car itself--are long-gone, IIRC the actual fuel tanks (gas and diesel) were identical--it was the pumps and fuel level senders that were different. The diesel wiring was also pretty straight forward--you could probably build a harness if you were unable to find one in suitable condition (the insulation on the one in our 83 was completed rotted away).

You may want to check out the "green books" (tech pubs) at the following:

http://www.k-jet.org/documents/greenbooks/200-series/

For example, the 1981 wiring diagrams include some of the diesel information you'll need to do the conversion:

http://www.k-jet.org/files/greenbooks/TP30316-1_wiring_digrams_1981_all_models_part_1.pdf

and

http://www.k-jet.org/files/greenbooks/TP30316-1_wiring_digrams_1981_all_models_part_2.pdf

Also, D24 engine maintenance-related:

http://www.k-jet.org/files/greenbooks/TP30420-1_d20_d24_repairs_part_1.pdf

and

http://www.k-jet.org/files/greenbooks/TP30420-1_d20_d24_repairs_part_2.pdf

D24 engine reconditioning-related:

IIRC, the diesel 240s had unique front springs to accomodate the heavier engine. They also had the vented front brakes for the same reason. Ours had the BW (55?) 3-speed auto transmission. I'd look for a manual box instead.

Good luck with your diesel!

Unfortunately, I do not have any of the parts you would need for you diesel project. But i am interested in your motor, t5 and the other parts you have for a v8 conversion. Please drop me a line, with a price that you are looking for it.

I think I have a 240 diesel air cleaner box (maybe 2), mounting brackets, a couple of new Mahle filters, and some of the intake connecting tubes (air cleaner to intake manifold, etc.) I was going to use them to build a cold-air intake for my V8, but I am probably going to use the Ford box instead. If you think you might need them, let me know and I'll look for them.

Good luck with your diesel conversion!

I'm a day late and a dollar short! I have an 86 244 Diesel thats in running(barely) condition. It was my wifes car and after being stranded several times this winter she's had it with the diesel cold start. We found her an 87 740GLE with only 86K on the clock that she loves. So she gave me the go ahead on the V8 swap. Let me know what need. In the past six months its gotten a new Interstate battery, a fuel pump rebuild, and new glow plugs. I think that either the cold start function is off or the fuel pump timing has jumped. email me and let me know what you what you'd like to trade. Oh and it is 4sp OD car.
