Hi,
I have a 1987 240GL that I have had for about 2 years. In the last few months it has begun to have some idle/stalling and lack of power issues.
Ofter while driving the RPMs will drop erratically and the engine feels like it lacks power and may be miss firing. This happens while stopped as well. After a few minutes of this the car will stall and die.
It takes a few tries before it starts again and will then run normally for a few minutes before the issue repeats itself.
This normally occurs after the car has been driven for more than 10 minutes.
I am in the process of replacing the rotor, distributor cap, spark plugs, ignition coil and associated wires (these have not been replaced while the car has been in my possession)but I am not very knowledgeable with Volvos and was wondering what else, if anything, may be causing this problem. I would very much like to try and do what ever I can myself before taking it to the shop.
Thanks for your help!
Nate
