ANSWER 1988 volvo 240 wagon schreeching/ squeeling when turn on the fan and sometimes when

A couple of days ago I installed an auxiliary cooling fan on my 1985 245. After I started the engine, and dialed the A/C on, I noticed that the voltage output was lower than normal, but I figured that it was due to the heavier load that had been imposed by adding the fan. It was (kind of). I took the car on a test drive, and since it had begun to rain, I had the headlamps and the wipers on. At a traffic light, I turned the right turn signal on, and watched as the voltmeter dipped into the red. The belts began to squeal, and would not stop until I reduced the load. I returned home, and found the alternator belts a little too loose. I adjusted the alternator belts, and repeated the drive. at no time did the voltage drop below mid point on the gauge. My problem was as simple as that.

To check your water pump, listen for a rumble from the pump, and look for water leaking from the weep hole in the pump. If the pump is quiet, and there are no leaks, consider the pump to be good.
