Sunday Morning, got out for a smoke, put my hands in the old jacket and found the long forgotten ECT sensor . I thought if I could sneak it into the block within 1/2 hr may be the long standing code 232 problem will go away ,moreover I did not had any plans for the day .
Any way a bright idea flashed in my head, thought it may be able doable by using a 19mm socket (newer sensor )and a long extension, no need to remove any thing .
Got the tools out and took out the sensor within 15 minutes. Looked closely at the weeping hole and saw a copper washer ,gingerly plucked it from there with the tip of my fingers , prepared the newer sensor put the washer on it and started locating the hole where it fits. While I am concentrating the washer decided to slip away . I start the marathon search for it . It is not found any where on the floor, block neither stuck in any wires , finally thought that it may have slipped behind the breather box . Removed screws to take B Box but the wiring harness is standing in the way . Removed screws for warning harness but B Box will still not come out .so far 1-1/2 hr into the job got a call from wife, told her give me 1/2 an hr more.
Realized that the air intake has to come out. Took out the air intake , removed breather box but no washer is present .Thought hard and felt that it may have slipped through those holes left by B box no visual clue however, Brought engine cleaner poured it in those holes . opened the drain nut . Checked the oil, still no washer.
Now I was really frustrated, thought I should check the trunk may be an old washer is lurking around somewhere. So I emptied every box, every bag which is inside the truck. Gods finally pleased by my perseverance, took mercy on me and directed my hands towards a box which had an old washer. They also provided me cotton balls, antiseptic cream and three band aids. Rest was as they say "Refitting is the reverse sequence to removal"
